Christmas Eve 2014

After celebrating Christmas with Bryan's family last Monday, we packed up the next day & headed south to Conroe. My nephew, Kason is almost 6 & we haven't spent a Christmas at my parent's house since he was born. Needless to say my parents were a little stoked to have everyone home:

Our Christmas Eve plans were ambitious because we had a full day of Christmas festivities planned & these kids loved every minute of it:

Can you tell the first thing on our list was a photo session? I wanted to get pictures while their Christmas outfits were still on & hair was fixed :) And thank goodness we have a professional photographer in our family - my sister takes great pictures so I just quit taking any at all & got copies from her. So some of you have probably already seen these on her blog. But without her, I wouldn't have pictures like this:

Sweet Sophie!

The ladies spent a lot of time in the kitchen starting that morning. We always have snacks & appetizers on Christmas Eve so we all took turns making something while the kids played. Mimi had lots of activities ready to go:

Then the guys snuck off to go golfing:

while the girls stayed behind to make iced sugar cookies. This is a tradition we have been doing since we were little girls so it made it even more special to do it with our girls:

Sadie had a blast cutting out the dough & decorating it, but she might have liked eating it even more!

After dinner that evening, we let the kids open 1 gift each (another Maddux family tradition) & then everyone put their Christmas pajamas on. Sadie was really excited for our next adventure: feeding the reindeer! She made reindeer food at school & she shared it with Zoe & Kason & they found the perfect spot to pour it where the reindeer could see it:

Usually we drive around & look at Christmas lights before we go to bed, but these kiddos had a long day & were too excited, so we skipped the drive & let Mimi & Doc read them a Christmas story instead:

Finally it was time to get ready for Santa! We let each kid pick out their favorite cookie & we let Kason put them out on the fireplace with a glass of milk:

Can you tell these 3 were just a tad bit excited?!

My parents converted a room to a grandkids room with bunk beds so we had to go in & gently remind them several times that Santa wouldn't come if they were still awake :) But seriously, how couldn't he come with kids that look this cute?!
