Big Sister Becomes the Teacher

Sadie loves Sophie. I mean it is so adorable how much she loves her! And she is always concerned about her - whether she thinks we need to change her diaper, feed her or give her a pacifier. It is so cute. And in the last week, Sadie has started teaching her other things. I can't remember if I have blogged about this or not, but in the past month, we finally moved Sadie from a high chair to a booster seat at the kitchen table. She has always loved her high chair, so I tried to keep her there as long as possible but she has really been showing interest in sitting in a regular chair like the rest of us. The only problem is that she is short, so she always has to sit on her knees to reach anything, so we finally broke down & got her a booster seat. She loves her new seat! She feels like a big girl now getting to sit by Mommy & Daddy at the table & we haven't had any problems with her trying to get down or not eating. But the funny thing is that she wants Sophie to sit with us, so her & her Dad found a way for that to happen:

 

That's right - we put the bumbo seat in the chair & strap her in. Now she can sit up & join us at the table, even though she doesn't get to eat yet. Sadie loves having her sit up there & quite honestly, I think Sophie likes it too!

 

And the other day, Sophie was getting fussy but I haven't made her bottle yet, so Sadie went & got her sippy cup of milk & tried to share it with Sophie:

 

 

And to my surprise, I watched Sadie teach Sophie how to hold it! Sophie even pulled it to her lips & was trying to drink out of it - it was hilarious! So, I followed Sadie's leading & I have been letting Sophie hold most of her bottles now:

 

 

Granted, she gets tired & can't hold it the entire time, but I definitely let her practice. And sometimes she is swaddled so she doesn't even have the opportunity, but I still can't believe she can hold it & feed herself. I am quite confident that Sadie could not do this by her self when she was this young. Then again, I have a feeling that Sophie is going to be doing everything quicker since Sadie is showing her the way!
