Happy Birthday to Me.....

Well, normally I wouldn't do a blog about my birthday, but this year my husband really spoiled me so I have to make note of it & thank him! My birthday was actually yesterday & I am not afraid to mention that I turned 34 since I'm still in my early thirties :)

A typical day for me starts at 5:30 when I get up to go to the gym. I have a drawer in my desk (which happens to sit in the kitchen by the garage door) where I keep my work out gear (headphones & radio) as well as my car key. Usually I grab everything in the dark & leave in a hurry but luckily I could see something from the nightlight in the hallway:

My sweet husband had strategically placed my birthday gift right where I would find it first thing in the morning. He had given me a Nike athletic hat - which is a perfect gift since I don't wash my hair or wear make up most of the time :) It's so easy just to throw on a hat when I am running the girls around during the week. Obviously he knows me well because as the day went on, I found hats around the house, including Sadie's room:

and Sophie's room:

I think he was trying to tell me that I needed to get rid of some of the other hats that I wear. Mostly the ones from American Eagle & Abercrombie that I have worn since college! What can I say, I take nice care of my things & I can't help it if I have a small head & have to wear hats from kids stores :) Yes, it's true - even the Nike hats he bought me were from the children's department & they fit perfectly.

The other part of my gift was a day to myself. Actually, I had Sophie in the morning, but we met Bryan at my favorite café in town for lunch & then he took Sophie home & picked up Sadie from school. While he took care of the girls, I headed to the spa for an olive oil pedicure & hot stone massage that he had booked for me. Both were heavenly! And when I finished, I had some time to kill, so I did a little shopping. After that, Bryan came to meet me for dinner while his grandmother watched the girls. And after dinner we got to see a movie. We haven't been on a "normal date" like dinner & a movie since well before Sophie was born. Of course we enjoyed having a quiet dinner just the two of us, but I enjoyed the cheesecake that we snuck into the movie theater the most!

Thank you Bryan for planning such a relaxing day for my birthday. As much as I love my girls, sometimes a mom needs a little time to herself :) The only down fall from my special day? Having to explain to this little girl that pink hat is actually Mommy's & not Sadie's!
