Everyone knows I am frugal & I love either making money or saving money! This week I have been on a rampage trying to get rid of stuff around the house & make a few bucks at the same time :) We recently cleaned out Bryan's closet & I consigned some of his clothes at a store in Dallas & it was so much fun I decided to do the same thing for me & the girls. I started with my maternity clothes. I only have 7 pounds to lose until I am at my pre-pregnancy weight, but luckily all of my normal clothes fit (they may be a little tight :) but I have decided to officially get rid of all of my maternity clothes. I have let it be known that I will not need them anymore! I tried to give away as much as I could to friends & family, but most of them are either done having kids or are a different size. So, I called around town & only found one place that buys maternity clothes. I was so excited to take everything up there & then they only offered me $25 - for EVERYTHING?! Needless to say I laughed, picked my stuff back up & carried it back home. I was kind of frustrated because the only other thing I could think of was to sell everything online, which meant a lot more work :( Until I saw that there was a consignment sale in Frisco this weekend:
I have heard about several consignment sales & I have some friends who have made some pretty good money, but I had never heard of this one. But the timing was perfect so I decided to try it anyway. I spent yesterday afternoon getting everything ready:
Like I said, I didn't have a ton, mostly maternity clothes & a few random baby items. They will sell maternity clothes for any season, but baby clothes have to be current season only. I actually have a ton of clothes from Sophie that I am ready to get rid of, but it is winter clothes so I will have to wait until next fall.
It only cost $10 to register for the sale & all of the items I needed, I had around the house. I had to enter every item into their web based inventory system, then I had to print price tags for everything, I had to hang everything the same way & place the tag in a specific location. Very tedious, but like I said, I had the paper, hangers, safety pins, etc. at the house & I was able to get everything done in a few hours.
I dropped everything off this morning & the sale is tomorrow & Saturday. You can log into their web based system to track your sales during the day, so I have a feeling I am going to be stalking their website :) I can't believe this is the first time I have ever done anything like this. In the past, I have mostly done garage sales, but if I am successful this weekend, I have a feeling I will be doing this a lot more in the future. We have a lot of baby gear, clothes, toys, books, etc. that can be sold eventually!
Stay tuned & I will let you know if I am successful or not.....
