Hualalai, The Big Island, Part 5

Aloha! I know I have been posting pictures for the past week about our summer trip, but I promise this is the last one! I can't help it - these 2 weeks with our family vacation is absolutely my favorite! We usually go somewhere new, spend unlimited, undistracted time together somewhere we love, which is usually the beach! After a few days on the island, we decided to have another resort day:

Every afternoon the kids club set up some sort of art/craft/activity by the pool & the girls had waited all week to get henna tattoos:

That afternoon Sophie & I stayed by the water, but Sadie decided to go with Bryan while he golfed:

I think the original plan was just for her to ride a long in the golf cart, but it sounds like he was able to get her out there for a few holes:

Usually, I don't get any pictures of Bryan golfing because he is by himself so I'm glad he had someone join him & it sounds like they had a great time:

Since they played twilight, which was later in the afternoon, they met us for dinner that night at Beachtree, which is their ocean front Italian restaurant:

When we walked home afterwards, we noticed it was a full moon:

Bryan & Sadie woke up early the next morning to head out for their next adventure - they did a 2-tank dive:

They said it was fun. Not the best dive they have ever done, but they saw a few octopuses:

Afterwards they met us at the beach. Clearly Bryan was tired from his early morning:

And I took this picture because I wanted to share a few of my favorites - Sahale snacks are my favorite, specifically these pomegranate vanilla cashews. I love them! Plus, I finally broke down & got a kindle for Christmas, so this was our first beach trip with it. I can't believe it took me so long so convert, but it really is easier traveling with this instead of all of the big, bulky books I used to:

That night, we signed up for the most recommended excursion on the island (besides the volcano):

We went on a night swim with the manta rays! We left at 7:30 & it was already pitch dark. We took a boat ride out where nothing was & eventually found a spot with a few other boats with a bright blue light:

Sadie was pumped - Sophie was second guessing herself, but eventually we all 4 got in the water with the rest of our boat. They had these platforms that we all held on to & then they gave us a pool noodle to put under out feet to help us float:

Do you see those Manta Rays?! Our captain said he counted at least 7 while we were in the water. He said they average 10-16 feet long & they weight about 1,000 pounds on each on average. Thankfully they do not have sting rays or teeth so they can't hurt you, but they are attracted to the blue light, and they love noise so we were out there singing, talking & screaming and they would just swim right up to us & put on a show. They stayed out there in the water for about 45 minutes, but Sophie got tired around 30 minutes, so we were one of the first to go back on the boat, but I'm kind of glad I did because then I was able to take pictures of Bryan & Sadie while they were still out there:

Isn't that awesome?! It was definitely a first for all of us because we had never done anything like that before. After this, we turned in our car & spent our last few days back at the resort hanging out before it was time to fly home:

We spent the beginning of our trip in beach chairs, but the sand was so hot & I mean this view was just as good:

Sadie & I left the pool early to go to the spa. Remember when she won the 5k at the beginning of our trip? She literally won a 50-minute lomi lomi massage worth $250! I was extremely jealous! Since she wasn't 14, I had to stay with her, so it was relaxing, but unfortunately, I did not get a treatment.

This was her first, real experience at a spa so she was excited to stay & shower there there before we headed to dinner. Speaking of, look what we saw on our walk to dinner that night:

Another beautiful sunset while we enjoyed Casa Grande at the Resident's Beach House:

Can you tell we all went to dinner with wet hair this evening?!

The next morning, we chose the exact same spot to set up because the girls were spending most of the time in the pool with all of their friends:

Fun fact, there were several sea turtles that hung around the beach & we always had fun walking around looking for them. Sadie & I found 4 on our last day there:

This was our last full day, so we went back to Ulu for dinner & our final sunset on the beach:

Per tradition, we played farkle at dinner every single night & this year, Sadie was our grand champion:

Every few nights they had s'mores on the beach, so it was perfect timing to spend one last night with all of their friends. They really did meet a big group of friends this trip:

The next morning, we woke up & had a normal day, but we had to be out of our room by noon. We left our suitcases with the bellman & then went back to the beach. Thankfully we were able to shower & clean up in the locker room at the golf club & then we headed back to Miller & Lux, which is the steakhouse on top of the golf club for our last meal. This was our favorite restaurant of the week, so we were excited to eat here one last time with one last sunset:

Then we headed to the airport for a red eye flight departing at 10:00:

We were fed, clean & ready for the long flight home.

If you are still reading, thanks for tagging along. I love to document our travel adventures because it truly is one of our favorite things we do together as a family. But school starts in 3 weeks & we are officially home for summer because soccer started back up already & cheer starts next week so now, we are just going to enjoy summer at home being lazy with our friends. Mahalo!
