Christmas Day 2023

The girls slept in on Christmas Day and they finally got up around 8:00. I guess that's early since Sadie's been sleeping until 10:00 - 11:00 most days, but at least they weren't up at the crack of dawn! I had all of the lights on & Santa had clearly come, we were just waiting on them:

We cleaned out the game room earlier this fall & sold their play kitchen & few of the American Girl items so we are ready to build a new game room for older kids. We already have a pool table & a ping pong table, but this year they got a new cocktail arcade table that has over 400 games:

I think they were surprised because this wasn't even on their radar, but they have already played it like crazy! Next up, we did stockings:

and a few gifts. We don't do a lot of gifts with just the 4 of us, but the girls had presents for each other, which were some of their favorites:

and we tricked the girls because all Sadie wanted was Apple Airpods for hew new phone & I could tell she was disappointed Santa didn't bring them, until she unwrapped them from us! Sophie got a digital picture frame for her bedroom because wants to load it with all of the pictures from her friends:

There might have been an unplanned theme after that. Lots of Longhorn gear:

After we cleaned up & got ready, we drove to Bryan's parents to celebrate Christmas with his family. Before Christmas, we celebrated birthdays because 4 of the girls have December birthdays, including Sophie. She hadn't gotten her gift yet from the Dodson family & to say she was surprised was an understatement:

Finally it was time for Christmas! It definitely took a lot longer this year having 8 grandkids:

After presents, Sherry had gingerbread houses for them to build & decorate:

Then we spent the rest of the day hanging out & enjoying the time together. It was a wonderful few days spent with his family & fun fact - we had less stuff this year! It's getting a lot easier to put up our Christmas gifts because everything they are getting is smaller & more expensive so they are getting less. Ha! Welcome to having tween girls in the family!
