Sky Ranch, Know Wonder, Drop Off - Sadie, Sky 1

Last Sunday was the big day we have literally been talking about for the past year! Sadie was ready for over night camp & she was going 100% by herself. She is a pretty independent & social girl so we knew she would do great & even though we were nervous for her, we were excited. First surprise, we decorated the car windows:

This is a camp tradition & we have seen cars every summer on the road decorated for camp. Our next surprise, Bucee's:

There is one on the way so of course we had to stop. There is another camp that is pretty popular & similar to Sky Ranch right past ours called Pine Cove so we saw several cars decorated for both. And remember how I said we knew no one going to camp this particular week? Of course we ran into a family from church with older kids who were headed to camp also:

Caroline has been one of the teen volunteers for Sadie's VBS group for the past 2 years & she loves her! Her mom is also the director of our pre-school so it was a fun surprise seeing them.

We were a little nervous about the weather because it had been raining on & off for the drive there. It's about 1 1/2 hours from our house but by the time we got there it had cleared up:

We got there early but there was already a line of cars waiting to get in. And want to know a fun surprise? If you decorate your car, they are literally waiting for you with home made cookies! We literally rolled down the windows & got to eat them in the car before we even parked :) We had fun driving around & getting to see everything before we parked:

They have these people movers that are kind of like big covered wagons that transport you & your luggage from your car to your cabin. They had counselors everywhere directing us & as soon as we parked, they came over & grabbed our luggage so we didn't even have to lift that heavy trunk. The girls thought the ride was fun:

Again, getting to check everything out before we made it to her cabin. Basketball courts, sand volleyball, water slides, tree house, horses, putt putt golf - literally it is ridiculous. Bryan & I wanted to stay because it looked so fun!

Eventually we made it to her cabin:

We got a welcome letter the week before telling her what cabin she was in. She didn't know what a Baby Ruth was, so I bought one at the store & surprised her the night before so we could all try it together :)

As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed by her 3 counselors & a few of the girls who were already there. The cabin was decorated super cute & very girlie:

To my surprise, the counselors unpacked her! They had cubbies set up for their shoes, toiletries, snacks, sunscreen, etc. so they showed her around & unpacked all of her goodies while I made her bed. She was so excited when I had her all set up:

Even Sophie was excited:

Poor girl really wanted to stay with her! We took a couple of pictures before it was time to leave:

Thank goodness it was nice when we dropped her off because by the time we walked out of her cabin it was pouring!

We didn't even wait for a shuttle, we just ran to the Legacy Center & we were soaking wet but we got her mail & packages all dropped off without her even knowing :) They had a camp store & a café so we stayed to check everything out:

They gave us free popcorn, which Sophie quickly took:

So Bryan & I splurged and got a s'mores milkshake:

We thought we better check out the food quality since our daughter would be eating there all week. Ha! Eventually it stopped raining & we finally caught a people mover back to our car:

Before I left her cabin, I took of pictures of their daily schedule & her counselor's information so I knew what she would be doing & who she was with all week. The camp does an awesome job providing resources to the parents all week & I have loved it! They have a parent podcast that Bryan & I have listened to every day. They send daily emails & best of all, every night they share pictures. Great pictures! That is the highlight of my day getting to see pictures of her in action & you know what, she is smiling from ear to ear in every one! Makes me happy knowing that she is having such a great time! We have been praying for her every day & I cannot wait to hear all about it when she comes home this weekend :)
