Every single year the girls look forward to their special date with Dad & this past weekend was the big day. I believe this was Sadie's 4th year to go & Sophie's 2nd. Last year they went together but this year was the first year they went separately. The city parks & recreation hosts our dance every year & they do an amazing job. Because it is so popular, they have to split up the dance times by age group, so last year they both went to the pre-k/k age group. This year, Bryan took Sophie first:
She was so excited! I think they were both excited to go by themselves so they could see their friends & get extra one on one attention from their dad:
This is the first year he surprised them with corsages & that was an even bigger surprise:
She was so proud!
Can you see Sadie back there photobombing?! She had a basketball game earlier so she was still a sweaty mess but Sophie slept in sponge curlers the night before so her hair was beautiful:
This year's theme was Cirque Fantastique so it kind of reminded them of The Greatest Showman, which is one of their favorite movies. She was so excited to see all of the characters:
They had snacks & apparently she loved the cotton candy:
They also had a magic show & Bryan said she watched it for quite a while until she finally hit the dancefloor. He had a lot of videos but only a few pictures of her in action:
She saw several friends from preschool & Bryan said most of her soccer team was there also. Even though I didn't get many action photos of her dancing, I did find several selfies on Bryan's phone:
While they were at the dance, Sadie & I were at home getting her ready. She was so funny, she wanted to take a long, hot bubble bath to relax in the quiet while Sophie was gone :) Wonder where she learned that! Sophie's hair is always straight so she wanted curls & Sadie is the opposite - her hair is always curly so she wanted me to straighten it:
This was the first time I ever did it, so I tried my best!
Thankfully she loved it! I even let her wear a little of bit of my make up since she asked & Sophie wasn't home :)
I drove her to the conference center to meet up with Bryan & Sophie. There is a 30 minute window between dance times so we got to visit & take pictures again before her dance started, which was for the 1st & 2nd graders:
When they walked in, she saw all of the characters also:
And she saw a ton of friends from church, her soccer team, her basketball team & of course school:
While they were at the dance, Sophie & I went to the mall to waste time. It is right by the hotel & conference center & we didn't really have time to go home. She ran a few errands with me & then I let her ride the carousel since I never do:
When their dance was over, I took Sophie & dropped her off Perry's Steakhouse so they could have a fancy dinner date with their dad. I might have been a little jealous they were having a fancy steak dinner while I was eating leftovers at home! Apparently they had a great dinner & I am so glad it worked for both of the girls to have special dates with their dad. They both looked beautiful & I'm so glad they had a wonderful evening:
