Thanksgiving in Austin 2018

Since we finally had a free weekend without soccer, we made plans to head to Austin for a quick weekend road trip:

The original plan was to stay with my sister & then take the girls to the Longhorn football game on Saturday. We have taken them to a game every year since they were born & they had been so excited. And for a fun surprise, we found out that my dad had a play off football game in Austin so they came to visit also. We spent most of the time around the house while the kids played. And boy did they play. This crew has so much fun together!

We hadn't been to their house since they got chickens or rabbits so it was fun watching the girls check out the animals in their back yard:

On Saturday afternoon, Natalie & I surprised my parents & made us a Thanksgiving dinner. We technically weren't going to be together for the holiday so it was a fun surprise. Natalie cooked her first ham on the Traeger & it was delicious! After dinner, we got ready for the game & unfortunately, the girls decided they were having so much fun playing with their cousins, they didn't want to go to the football game with us. I was so disappointed :( I knew Sophie & Zoe would probably stay home but I was really surprised Sadie & Kason didn't want to come. So it ended up being just Bryan, me & my dad:

I guess it worked out because it was a night game, kind of cold & it was sold out so tickets were expensive. Both teams were ranked so we were expecting a good game & it ended up being even better than we thought. We won, the crowd was awesome & the atmosphere was exciting. Not only was it the last home game of the season, but it was also alumni band & senior night:

We even stayed afterwards for the fire work show:

And walked through campus afterwards & saw the tower light up:

Fingers crossed we don't screw it up when we go to Kansas later this week.

On Sunday, we headed home but not before going back to campus. The girls missed the game but we at least drove them around & took them shopping at the Co-op:

It was a fun weekend away but now we are looking forward to spending the rest of the Thanksgiving holiday at home. Hook 'Em.
