UT vs. Cal

Every year Bryan & I try to choose an out of town Longhorn football game to go to. First of all, it's just exciting to see new stadiums but also, now that we have kids, it's a fun excuse for a weekend away just the two of us :)

This year, we chose the University of California at Berkley & it was this past weekend. We flew up early on Friday morning :

while the girls stayed home with grandparents. Berkley is right outside San Francisco but instead of flying in there, we flew into Oakland since it is a smaller airport. The game was on Saturday night at 7:30 California time, 9:30 Texas time. Unfortunately, it was a long, frustrating game that we should have won & did not. We lost 43-50 but since it was high scoring, the game was really long. We were tired & cold by the time we left the stadium :(

Before the game we went to the Texas Exes tailgate & had a blast. It was held at the baseball field on campus & they had food trucks, drinks & a live band. I think they said there were about 3,000 longhorn fans there so it was a fun crowd. And we were surprised with appearances by our mascot, cheerleaders & band:

We met up with our friend Joel & his new family but somehow I didn't get a copy of our group picture. That's what happens when we take pictures on other people's phones! At the game, we also saw a family friend, Caitlyn:

Even though it was a disappointing game, we still had a fun time & we had a great weekend away:
