Besides potty training, we have actually been doing quite a bit lately! I feel like summer flew by & we hadn't really been home much, so since we finally got home from traveling, we have been enjoying being lazy. I had a whole list of things I wanted to do this summer & we hadn't done any of them until recently - but we are quickly checking them off!
I read about a craft in one of my magazines this summer that we tried & the girls loved it. We cleaned out all of our crayons & found all of the broken ones &/or really short ones & put them in a Ziploc bag. Then we went outside & let the girls take turns hitting it with a hammer. Once all of our crayons had been chopped up, I let them pick out a cookie cutter & we poured the crayon pieces inside. They chose a heart & then we took it outside to let it cook all day:
Later that afternoon, we went outside to check on it & it had melted so the colors were all swirled. Then we brought it inside & it didn't take long to harden back up, but this time, we had a pretty piece of wax in the shape of a heart. The girls have been so proud of it & they show it to everyone who comes over!
Sadie is still going to gymnastics every Monday & Sophie goes to camp at My Gym every Wednesday. I have continued taking Sadie to the $1 movies at Cinemark while Sophie is at camp & it is much more enjoyable just the 2 of us:
We also met some friends for free bowling:
This was our first time to go this summer but it ended up being like last summer. They were so excited at first, but after an hour or so, they got kind of bored & didn't make it all the way through both games:
We have done a lot of baking:
We have made a chocolate chip pie, a cake, jello, pudding & popsicles. The girls love helping me out in the kitchen, especially since it's too hot to play outside.
They have also had a few surprises that I saved specifically for this summer:
Sadie got this princess craft set for her birthday, but between both of them they got so much for their birthdays & Christmas, so I had saved a few things for us to do this summer & they are loving it!
We have also spent a lot of time in the pool having friends over:
Turns out Sadie & Tatum have the same goggles:
We've even had a popsicle party in the pool:
I've even kept myself pretty busy as well. I have cleaned out the girls closets & the play room & have gotten everything ready for the children's consignment sale which I am participating in a few weeks. I cannot wait to get rid of all of the baby gates, diaper genies, booster seat, etc. - you know, all the stuff Sophie has decided she is finished with!
I have also been shopping the end of summer sales & have bought several things for next summer:
That's probably half of what I have bought so far.
Unfortunately I had another cancerous mole on my back removed. They actually found it in early June, but I waited to have it removed when we got finished traveling because I couldn't go swimming or do anything strenuous for a couple of weeks. I had 8 stitches & the girls were good about checking on it & going with me to the doctor when I had my stitches removed:
Let's just say it has been a good life lesson to teach both of them about sun exposure! I spent more time under an umbrella on our last trip than I ever have! And thank goodness the girls are patient with me as I cover them in sunscreen!
And I enjoyed a girl's night out to Studio Movie Grill to see "Bad Moms". It was hilarious!
We officially have 4 weeks left of summer & we still have lots to do on our list - splash pads, make home made ice cream, tea parties, etc., etc. The girls don't start pre-school until after Labor Day so we are going to enjoy every minute & continue being lazy until our fall schedule picks up again.
