Seven Mile Beach

We definitely stayed on the touristy part of Grand Cayman called Seven Mile Beach. It is a beautiful stretch of beach where most of the hotels & condos are located & there are plenty of restaurants close by within walking distance. As much as we loved our hotel, my only complaint is that the main part of the property is across the street from the beach. Our room was actually on the harbor side, so we saw water, but it wasn't the pretty beach. We would have to walk across an indoor bridge to get to the restaurants & the beach every morning. Once we finally crossed it, it was worth the walk:

We ate breakfast at the same restaurant every single morning overlooking the pool & the beach. This is a view of the other fountain in front of the main pool:

The girls had their beach bags & were ready to go!

Every single time we travel, we always take off our shoes & leave them before we enter the sand. Some places our 4 pairs are the only ones there & sometimes there are piles of shoes because that's what everyone does. This was the first time I saw this:

They actually had several shoe racks right before you entered the sand, which was conveniently located by the outdoor shower. Genius!

We finally made it to the water & it was gorgeous:

The water was beautiful! White sugary sand & crystal clear water. And it was really calm. We love it when there aren't waves because you can do & see so much! They had trampolines/floats out in the water that we swam out to a couple of times but they were too far out to get a picture. Sophie didn't like it the first day because she hates getting dirty but eventually she warmed up:

Sadie loved it from the get go. You could rent free snorkeling gear & snorkel right off the beach, but she didn't really care for their goggles. She just preferred to put on her own goggles & swim around.

There were all sorts of free water activities & we took advantage of every single one. They had floats, which we all took a turn on:

They even had these awesome floats that Sophie loved:

A zayak. I had never seen one of these before, but at the top (where it looks black) is actually microscopic glass, kind of like a glass bottom boat where you can see everything below. Sophie could have floated around on this all day looking around!

They also had kayaks, paddleboards, water bikes & sailboats:

Another advantage of flat water - it's easier to do water sports! The first day we were there they had parasailing & Sadie asked if she could go. I was kind of excited because I have been before, but never with her & I knew this would be a great place to try it. Unfortunately, the boat broke the next day & they had to order parts so they didn't get it repaired until after we left.

We ate a big, late breakfast most mornings, so most of the time for lunch we would just get a drink, snack or appetizer to share:

They actually passed out snacks every day around the beach & the pool so that helped. We may have ordered several drinks though - I always stick with my usual strawberry daiquiri but Bryan had to try them all! I even spoiled the girls & let them have a few daiquiris as well. They like to drink what mommy drinks:

We even met some new friends at lunch one day:

I actually met them at the gym one morning & then introduced the rest of the family at lunch. MJ played football at UT & his girlfriend, Whitney, played soccer at UT. We always have an instant connection with fellow longhorns! Sadie liked talking to Whitney all about her soccer team while Bryan & MJ talked UT football.

The beach was beautiful, but it was crowded. Probably more than what we are used to:

Every day the cruise ships would come in & we could see them from our hotel. That was pretty neat & Sadie liked talking about them.

This was by far the most time we have every spent at the beach. I have always dragged the girls there in the morning (because it is usually less crowded & not as hot) but after an hour they are asking to go. This time I was the one asking to go because they were having so much fun, especially this little diva:

We have truly raised 2 little beach babes & I love spending every minute with them there! Even Bryan enjoys our beach time:

It's one of the few places where we can go & disconnect while looking at God's wonderful creation. I know some people thing the same thing about the mountains, but for us it is the ocean. It would be wonderful to live somewhere & see it every day, but I guess that's what makes it so special, only making the trip once or twice a year.
