This past Saturday was the Frisco Community Parade, which is one of the biggest parades in Frisco. It is always the second Saturday in November so it is a combination Homecoming parade for the high schools & Veterans Day parade. Frisco has 7 high schools now so imagine how long the parade was with 7 football teams, 7 cheerleaders, 7 bands & 7 drill teams. Frisco ISD made an appearance in the parade, which meant Bryan got to be in the parade, which meant Sadie & I got to be in the parade! They didn't have a float or anything fancy. Basically they had one of the Frisco ISD maintenance trucks drive in the parade with a banner. Bryan & a couple of the other board members walked the parade route shaking hands & passing out candy. I may have had the best seat in the house because I rode on the tailgate in the back of the truck throwing the candy :) Sadie got to go for a leisurely stroll in her jogging stroller with her Dad.
We got to the staging area early & Sadie was a bit overwhelmed because there was so much to see. Right by us was the Sports Clip float & I didn't know if I should be concerned or not because all of the girls on the float knew who Bryan was:
I guess you can say he is a regular! By this time, Sadie had warmed up to all of the commotion & she wanted to run around & see everything, so she didn't understand why we were making her stay in the truck with us. So much for a family picture.....
But she quickly calmed down when the parade took off. She was so cute waving to everyone & she enjoyed going for a stroll.
She even lucked out & got a lollipop to suck on while her Dad was passing out candy to everyone else:
But she was not happy when the parade was over. The parade route went through downtown Frisco but we parked at Toyota Stadium, so when we made it through downtown & the parade was over, we all hopped in the back of the truck to get a ride back to our car. You would think this would be fun for a 2 year old - to ride in the back of a truck with the wind in your face. Not so much. She wanted to run around the back of the truck while it was moving & she was not very happy that her Dad & I had to hold her in our laps. I think this picture pretty much sums it up:
I know - this picture is classic, right? Her wind blown hair, tears streaming down her face with a blue mouth? If she only knew how lucky she was to be the parade. Maybe next year will go better.....
