After 2 weeks of traveling, we finally made it home! We had a great time visiting with family & going on vacation, but I was really ready to come home. Two weeks is a long time to travel with a 1 year old!
For vacation this year, we went to:
It is an amazing island & for those who don't know where it is, it is in the West Indies - South Caribbean. As soon as we got to our hotel, Sadie was excited:
The whole hotel was open air & there were water fountains everywhere, including this pond full of goldfish in the lobby. That might have been her favorite part of the trip! I of course enjoyed the welcome with my first fruity drink:
Sadie was even more excited when we got to our room:
We had a fabulous view & she spent most of her time playing on the porch looking at the ocean. We ate breakfast out there every morning - what a way to start the day, huh?!
We spent most of our days lounging at the hotel taking advantage of the beach & the pool. Sadie didn't know what to think of the beach at first. She was really excited looking at it:
Then she had a hard time walking in it:
Which made her fall into the sand & then she realized she couldn't get the sand off, even if she shook her hands really hard:
This went on for the first 30 minutes or so because she wasn't happy:
We let her cry it out until she realized it was ok. After that, she met a friend who helped her learn that it's ok to play in the dirt!
For the most part, we played at the beach every morning & every day she felt more comfortable.
She was also a little skeptical of the ocean. She was fine once we got in the water, but the waves scared her when it crashed on her. Probably because she is so little that the waves would sometimes knock her down!
She really enjoyed the float. She spent a lot of time cruising around with her Dad:
She also met a friend name Beatrix who was only a few months older. She is from London & she was also on vacation with her family. We enjoyed hanging out with them & the kids were so cute interacting with each other!
After we spent our mornings at the beach, we headed to the pool, which was Sadie's favorite part of the day! She may have gotten fussy here & there while at the beach, but her face lit up when we went to the pool!
Her swimming lessons have obviously paid off because she was very confident in the water & we had a ton of compliments on her swimming ability. And I could tell improvement just in the week we were there since we spent so much time in the pool. As you can tell, she loved playing on the steps.
We did sneak away from the resort a few times. I went shopping one afternoon & Bryan went golfing:
We also took a tour of the island & did a lot of eating! I believe every meal we dined alfresco & I have to admit that this island had some of the best restaurants in the Caribbean! Of course I have more pictures from our adventures, but I'll post more tomorrow since this blog is already long enough. Until then, here is one more picture to enjoy:
