I spent Thursday & Friday of last week doing a little spring cleaning - but not the kind you are probably thinking of around the house, but in our closets! It was still kind of cool in Lubbock last week, but it was hot when we got back to Dallas. And since it was spring break & mid-March, I figured it was time to transition the wardrobe from winter to spring/summer. My closet was easy because all I had to do was put up my winter shoes & get out all of my cute sandals & flip flops. Next step was to give myself a pedicure since I hadn't had one all winter. I must admit that I was pretty proud walking around in my flip flops this weekend with my pink toes!
Sadie's closet was a little harder & took a lot longer. I am pretty sure it looked like a tornado blew through her bedroom!
I spent about 3 hours in her room before I got it finished, but luckily she was happy & played with her toys the entire time. You can probably see her educating herself with one of her books above :)
I am one of those crazy sale shoppers who buys most of her wardrobe out of season, so half of her closet were items I have had stashed away since the end of last summer. First, I had to go through all of the clothes & cut the price tags off. Second, I had to place them in piles - shorts, shirts, dresses, bathing suits, etc.
Next, I had to make sure that every top had a matching bottom & vice versa. Of course I also had to make sure that I had enough bathing suit cover ups that matched also. Then we moved on to shoes - does every outfit have a matching sandal?
But the most important step is making sure that every outfit had a matching bow :) The good news is that I did pretty good & I only have a few random things that need to be bought to complete her spring/summer wardrobe. And her closet & bedroom is now nice & tidy again. I am sure some of you think I am crazy, but I really do love organizing & cleaning! And I save so much money by shopping off season. I got really excited looking at all of the price tags. I got some really good deals for less than $1 or $2! I was a little bummed that I didn't do as good for her wardrobe next winter, but at least I have a good foundation started.
Oh what fun it is to dress little girls!
