Sadie turned 15 months old last week & she went in for her doctor check up this week. She thought she was such a big girl walking into the doctor's office by herself. She even got to go to a regular room with big kid toys - not the well baby room hidden at the front for new babies. I was surprised to see her step on a scale instead of laying down on the baby scale also. Of course, I kind of liked it when they weighed her that way because she was naked & we had a better guess at what she actually weighed. This time, she had her clothes, shoes & helmet on so I personally think her weight is a little inflated. I know for a fact that her helmet weighs 6 oz. I couldn't get a picture of this big girl act because she didn't want to stand still for very long :) I was able to capture a picture when they measured her length & head circumference:
They had to measure her length a couple of times because apparently she is shrinking :) But her head finally had a growth spurt! Here are her 15 month stats:
Height: 30", 29.5%
Weight: 21.4 lbs., 52.5%
Head: 17.4", 14%
Even though I think her weight is a little off, I know it is close because that girl is a porker! It would just be nice if we could get her to grow taller so her weight would be more evenly distributed & her clothes would fit a little better. She is still wearing 9-12 months. Mostly 12 month, but I still have a few 9 month outfits that fit her better because some of her 12 month clothes swallow here.
The next part was not as fun. She had to have her toe pricked & she got 2 shots:
Poor girl! Don't worry though, her Dad was there to help cheer her up:
Overall, Sadie is developing right on track & I am amazed every day by what she can do. She no longer wobbles around the house - she can run! She still falls sometime when she loses her balance, but other than that the girl has no fear. She says about 4 words that I can understand: Mama, Dada, Baby & Daisy. I feel like she is trying to repeat some of the things we say, we just can't understand it quite yet. She is very vocal. Talks all the time in her own little language. And she is still the loudest baby out of all of her friends. My sister says that's a good thing because maybe she wants to be a cheerleader! She mimics everything we do, but my favorite thing is to see her carry her purse around, put her necklace on, or try to put glasses or a hat on. She clearly understands what we are saying because she follows instructions very well & she is very good at communicating with us in different ways also. Here are some examples: When she is hungry, she goes to her high chair. When she is tired, she goes to the staircase & tries to open the gate to go to her room upstairs. When I say "Let's go ride the car" she goes to the garage door because she knows her car & her wagon are out there. When I say "Let's take Daisy outside to go potty" she goes directly to the backdoor to let Daisy out & afterwards we say "Good girl - let's give Daisy a treat" and she goes straight to the kitchen counter where the animal crackers are. I can go on & on because I am so amazed at how smart she is & it seems like it happened over night. Speaking of overnight, she is still a good sleeper. On average, she sleeps 3-4 hours in the afternoon & around 12 at night. She used to sleep 13 hours at night & she wouldn't get up until 9:00, but now she is starting to wake up earlier - usually somewhere between 8:00 - 9:00. She is still a very light sleeper & does not sleep in public. Very rarely does she take a cat nap in the car. She plays by herself really good & is easily entertained. Every day she makes us smile & I can't wait to continue watching her learn!
