Magic Kingdom

Last week Bryan went to Orlando for a business trip so we thought we would take advantage of him being there by taking Sadie on a mini vacation. Any guesses where we went?

That's right - we went to Disney World! I know some of you are thinking that Sadie is a little young for Disney, but we actually had an awesome time! We only went 1 day & did 1 park, Magic Kingdom. She loved all of the rides & we did as many as we could. We started with

It had a long line, but they have a circus tent where you are assigned a pager according to your spot in line & the kids to get play while they wait. Pretty cool, huh?

Next we rode "It's a Small World" which I think was probably my favorite. I liked all of the bright colors & the music.

We also rode the Carousel:

and she got to learn about other characters who have been around as long as Bryan & I!

I would say her favorite ride was

While we were standing in line, she started dancing for everyone! She must have loved the music :)

And when got in our teapot, she tried hard to spin us!

We also watched a short 4D movie with Disney Magic:

And who could go to Disney without doing a little shopping?

It was so cute seeing all of the older girls walking around in their princess outfits all dolled up, but we really tried to encourage Mickey & Minnie Mouse at this age. I have a feeling that next time we go & she is older, she will be in her princess phase.

Bryan & I had both been there before, but we went when we were kids, so it was a whole new experience. For instance, I have never seen so many strollers in my life!

Everywhere you look there are stroller parking lots because you can't take them on any of the rides, in the stores, in the restaurants, etc.

Sadie was a trooper & lasted at the park from 10:00 that morning until 9:00 that night. She may have taken a quick power nap in her stroller late in the afternoon, but other than that, she did great!

Lucky for us, her nap coincided with our snack time:

Besides the rides, Sadie really enjoyed all of the music & the parades. Of course we also enjoyed seeing the castle by day

and by night

She started getting a little rambunctious around 6:30, but we were determined to hold our spot in line for the

This was probably my favorite part of the day & from the look on Sadie's face, I think it was hers also!

Obviously this picture doesn't do the moment justice. She was getting tired so we gave her some milk & her pacifier, but as soon as she saw the first float go by, she threw down her paci, pulled herself up & just stared at the float turning her head & trying to watch it as long as she could. And before she knew it, another float would come by!

After the parade, we waited around a little longer to watch the fireworks.

We know for sure she enjoyed the fireworks because she started throwing up her hands & clapping!

On our way out of the park, we made 1 final stop. I had read online that most 1 year olds are afraid of the characters, so we didn't waste anytime trying to see them. But as we were leaving, we ran into Mickey Mouse. Apparently, my research was correct:

She was as happy as she could be, until we got about 10 feet away from Mickey! As soon as she saw him, she started crying. Thank goodness this was the only time she cried all day! I personally think this picture is hilarious :)

I realize that Sadie probably won't remember our trip, but it was special for Bryan & I to watch her experience it. And I am glad we have pictures & souvenirs to tell her about our day, but I look forward to taking her back when she is old enough to fully experience the magic! Until next time......
