I was excited when I started planning Sadie's first birthday party because her actual birthday fell on a Saturday. And I have to admit that since we were having it at our house & everything was decorated for Christmas, it almost felt like more of a Holiday Open House than a birthday party!
First I have to give a huge shout out to my sister, Natalie, who helped me come up with all of these amazing ideas for the party. She even designed everything from the invitation to the decorations to the thank you notes. I think we did a good job keeping it bright, playful & Christmas oriented with a girly twist!
We also had some yummy food that was kid appropriate:
But my personal favorite was her cake:
This one was a little too much for Sadie, so she had her own of course!
Speaking of Sadie, she had a blast at her party! She didn't get fussy at all - she just crawled, cruised & was passed around from person to person most of the day. She really was all smiles at her party, but somehow that didn't translate on camera. That is probably my only complaint that she looks serious in all of the pictures.
She loved her big cake but didn't want to have anything to do with her smash cake!
During her party she had a surprise visitor:
He also brought along his wife, Mrs. Clause:
Sadie was blessed to have most of her family there including grandparents & great grandmothers:
In lieu of birthday gifts, we had a toy drive, but a few family members still got her a birthday present, including the grandparents who each bought her a new, special, big-girl gift:
Of course her Mom & Dad got her something special too:
Even though she is only one & will probably not remember her first birthday party, Bryan & I had a great time celebrating with family & friends. And we have some awesome stories & pictures to share when she gets older!
