Christmas Eve 2012

After we spent the weekend with Bryan's family, we headed back to our house for Christmas with my family. My sister & her family drove in while we were gone, so they were at home waiting for us! Sadie was so excited to come home & see Kason. They are so cute playing together :) Unfortunately, my Dad had to work on Christmas Eve, so they didn't come until Christmas Day. That left just the 4 of us with the kiddos & we kept busy preparing for Santa. First we had to get dressed in one of our Christmas outfits:

Then we had to play with our new toys:

And she shared her toys with Zoe:

Look how big she is holding herself up for only 4 months!

When the big kids got tired of playing in the house, I took them to the park for some fresh air:

Once the babies went down for their afternoon nap, Kason got to help Natalie & I in the kitchen. We baked peanut butter fudge, chocolate covered pretzels & our annual ritual: iced sugar cookies! Natalie & I have made sugar cookies & decorated them since we were little girls :)

Kason was a good helper! And Max rolled & crawled his way all the way from the guest room to the kitchen because he didn't want to miss out on the action!

When all of the kids woke up, we had another Maddux family tradition - chips, dips & appetizers for dinner. Followed by another tradition - each kid got to open 1 gift & they all got a new pair of pajamas!

A new tradition we started with Sadie this year is feeding the reindeer. We made reindeer food & passed it out at her birthday party but of course we saved some for her & Kason.

For some reason Kason really thought the reindeer would want to eat their food by the tree. And when he ran out of food, he tried to take Sadie's!

When we finally ran out of reindeer food, we went back inside to finish getting ready for Santa! Kason wrote him a letter & decorated his sugar cookie. He also decided Santa may want a few chocolate covered pretzels to go with his milk :)

Our last task of the night was to put on our Christmas pj's & read a Christmas story:

Finally, when the little kids went to sleep, the big kids stayed up & played!

But we couldn't stay up too late because Santa was on his way.......
