Game Day Road Trip

We have taken Sadie on several road trips since she was born, but this past weekend was an extra special family trip - Sadie finally made it to Austin! As soon as we got in to town, we took her to the Co-op & went shopping:

Afterwards, we took her to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner: Hula Hut!

Oh-yeah, did I mention that we had another guest with us? Bryan's cousin Tom is in high school & he wants to go to UT, so we took him to Austin for the weekend so he could explore Austin too! Lucky for him, the tower was lit up in memory of Darrell K. Royal:

We got up early the next morning for the big game day! Sadie technically went to several games last year when she was in my belly, but this was the first time we actually took her to a game so she could enjoy it :) Personally, I think she had the best seat in the house:

We got to the stadium just in time to see the band march in:

And here it is - the picture I have been waiting to take since the day Sadie was born:

This was the very first shot we got when we walked into the stadium. As you can see, Sadie was mesmerized - there was so much to see!

I will admit that it's definitely more fun to go to a game without a kid, but she kept me on my toes. When she got bored, we let her crawl around & play:

Of course every now & then she needed a water break:

It was a 11:00 game in November, so the weather was good. Mid 80's but nice & sunny. I think the sun may have been the hardest part because every now & then she would get fussy, so we would go underneath the stadium to cool off in the shade. Luckily she met Kayla & the 2 of them kept each other entertained!

Kayla & her parents sit behind us at the game & she has been coming to the games since she was 2 years old. I hope Sadie follows in her tradition!

I will brag & say that Sadie actually made it through the entire game & we did not leave until after the school song played upon our victory. Of course, she was fading towards the end:

But we finally got family photos of us at DKR Memorial stadium!

And I think Tom had a great time, too:

On our way back to the car we stopped to take a picture of the tower by day:

It was a special day getting to walk around campus with Sadie & finally taking her to a game. We have talked about this since the day we got married & finally after having season tickets for 9 years she got to come with us! I hope this is a tradition that will continue for many years to come.

Our last stop on the way out of town was to visit Mrs. Cindy:

Cindy & her husband Walt also sit behind us at the football games. We have been lucky that we sit by a great bunch of couples & families that we enjoy seeing every year. They all knew we were pregnant last year & have been waiting all season to meet Sadie :) Unfortunately, Cindy is battling cancer & wasn't able to come to the game this week, so we stopped by her house while we were in town. It didn't take long for this little longhorn to lift her spirits! Our thoughts & prayers go out to Cindy as she recovers & we look forward to seeing her at the games next year!
