San Francisco, Part 1

In case you are wondering why I haven't blogged in the past week, it's because we went on a much needed vacation - an adults only, no kids vacation! Our good friends & neighbors, Daniela & Jonathan invited us to go to California with them, so it was officially our first extended trip without Sadie. I will admit that Bryan & I had a great time together, but we did miss our little girl!

We started the trip in San Francisco. We have all been there & done most of the touristy things (Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghiradelli Chocolate Factory, etc.) so this time we tried to be adventurous! On Thursday, we rented bikes & took a 8 mile ride. We started at the Fisherman's Wharf, rode along the bay, up to the Golden Gate Bridge, across the bridge until we stopped in Sausalito. The ride was a great way to see the city from a different perspective, however it would have been better if the weather was better!

Here we are picking up our bikes before we head out:

The weather was great while we were still in the city. It got a little foggier the closer we got to the water & to the bridge. Here are few snapshots on our way up:

By the time we got to the bridge, it was horrible! It was much colder & so foggy you could barely see in front of you. Here is a snapshot of what we could see before we crossed:

We stopped half way & tried to get a picture of the beautiful view. The sun was trying to peak through.....

Finally we made it to the other side & it was much clearer!

We enjoyed the rest of the evening in Sausalito. It is a cute little city, right on the water with lots of bars, restaurants, shops & art galleries.

On a side note, we did not ride the bikes back to the city - we took the ferry! We had a great time doing our bike tour & we definitely got a good workout. Maybe next time we will have better weather.......
