It's been a long season of spring soccer with a lot of rain & cooler weather but we finally made it through. Sophie's season started in February & after 3 or 4 rain outs, they finally had their last game this past weekend. I don't know if she loves soccer as much as Sadie does, but she has fun playing with her friends, that's for sure:
This was without a doubt their best season. They weren't undefeated, but they won several games & lots of goals were scored by all. Bryan coached again & led team USA all the way:
After their final game, we headed to Chiller Bee to pass out trophies & celebrate with fro yo:
I'm not sure what will happen next year because they move up from 4v4 to 7v7, play on a bigger field & with a goalie. I sure hope these girls stay together! Go Twinkle Toes!
You know Sadie's soccer season never ends since she plays year round, but their spring season had a lot of rain outs along the way too. They finished up the Junior Classic League & played in another league with the boys & let me tell you, they killed the boys most games! Literally, last weekend they won 6-0. They are also in the middle of try outs. Her coach is technically hosting open try outs for the entire month of May & June then signing day is July 1, so she is working hard to make next year's team:
This was their very first try out. It was 2 hours long & really hard. Probably one of the hardest practices she has ever been to. They are having these additional try outs on the weekend that are open to everyone so there have been a lot of girls trying out. Of course most of the girls from her current team are trying out also so we really hope much doesn't change:
They have been playing Academy but will go select on July 1. At their try outs, they wear bibs with numbers & there are multiple coaches standing around evaluating them on their skill, not by name or club affiliation. There is a lot of skill, passing, footwork, shooting, etc. but there is also a lot of speed, agility & conditioning. I think that's what wipes them out!
We've got another month of try outs but I am so proud of the way she has handled the pressure. We always try to remind her to just have fun & not let it get to her head. It's a little bittersweet though because her BFF, Kenzie, is leaving for another team. She dances competitively & her schedule doesn't allow time to do both at such a competitive level. Thankfully they got to play one of their final games together last weekend:
Thank goodness they live down the street from each other & go to school together so they will still see each other often:
We are so proud of both of our soccer sisters!
