Dog Sledding in Breckenridge

Our final surprise of the trip & my personal favorite, was dog sledding! Bryan & I have actually done this before when we went to Alaska years ago, way before kids, but no one else in our family had done this. This was another Christmas present for the kids from my parents but unfortunately, my parents didn't get to go. My Dad has underlying health issues from his battle with cancer over 10 years ago & this trip, the altitude got the better of him so my mom had to take him to the ER. Thankfully he was released later that day but he spent the rest of the trip resting in our room with oxygen. But it also meant they both missed our trip with the dogs.

As soon as we got there, the kids were excited to see the huskies:

Well, all of the kids except for Sophie! She liked seeing them from a distance. We divided into 2 groups & then took off into the snow. First group was Natalie & Daniel, with Max & Sophie:

Sophie was scared at first but then she ended up loving it! Both groups had a sled that could hold 2 & was pulled by the dogs then the others rode a bigger slide that was pulled by a snow mobile. Our instructor drove the snowmobile & gave us instructions while we took turns driving the dog sled. We literally had so much fun:

It was so cold out there with the wind on our face & we sledded for a few hours but it was the most fun thing we did all week! Not only was it a beautiful day but it was so pretty being away from town in the wilderness & it was something exciting most of us had never done before! Here we are taking turns on the big sled with the snow mobile - even that was fun being pulled around:

Thank you Mimi & Doc for such a fun adventure! This was absolutely my favorite part of the week, I just hate that both of you missed it.
