Sadie & Sophie's Family Birthday Party 2020

As I mentioned, we had a lot of plans last week that changed day by day. The girls were supposed to have their party on Sunday night with their friends, but my parents had planned on coming in for the weekend & we were going to have a family party with both sets of grandparents on Saturday night but we had to cancel that also. Since my parents had already planned on coming, they decided they were going to drive up anyway, even if they couldn't come inside our house. Thankfully I got the girls outside playing since the weather was nice & before we knew it, we heard honking:

My parents surprised them with birthday balloons, presents, a poster & a gluten free birthday cake! Originally they had planned on saying hi, dropping everything off & then heading back home, but luckily for them, Bryan & Sophie got their test results before lunch time & they were negative! Since the CDC revised their guidelines & they had been symptom free for 7 days, had stayed quarantined & had negative tests, the doctor said they were free to return to normal. Woo-hoo! So we let my parents come inside afterall:

Their poster cracked me up:

We will never forget their 2020 birthdays, that's for sure!

We called Bryan's parents to come over also:

So we ended up having a small family gathering. We have seen grandparents a few times but unfortunately we haven't seen extended family. I didn't have the house decorated for their birthday or a meal planned, but we made the most of it & grabbed Mexican for dinner & ate my mom's cake:

Sherry brought gluten free Christmas cookies also so we had plenty to snack on, but let's be honest, the girls really just wanted to open presents:

I didn't take many pictures of them opening their gifts, but Sadie got her first real camera & she is obsessed with it!

Sophie got some new leotards because she is starting tumbling classes now that her fall cheerleading season is over:

To end the night, we bundled up & took a walk outside because one of our neighbors had it "snowing" at their house:

It ended up being a really fun night & I am so glad we were able to bring a little birthday/Christmas cheer to the girls after a hard week!
