July 4th 2020

We had a laid back holiday weekend & thankfully, we had perfect weather to go along with it. Don't get me wrong, it was hot but we spent most of our time in the pool so we didn't mind the heat. On Friday afternoon, Bryan took off early & surprised the girls by driving out to the country until they found a fireworks stand:

They had never been to one before so they were so excited! Apparently Bryan was too because he bought way too many:

On Saturday, we invited one family over to swim & cookout:

Before we knew it, we had a couple of neighbors crash our get together:

After we ate & swam, we dug through our pile of fireworks & found sparklers:

We did the sparklers in the back by the pool but then we headed out to the front to try the rest of our fireworks out. Then we caught a few more neighbors after everyone saw what we had going on:

We made quite the mess out there but it was probably the highlight of our night! We laughed so hard! The guys were cracking us up because they would light them & then run:

See our mess?! The kids had fun playing in the grass while they were waiting for fireworks:

And then Sadie's BFF walked around the corner & just made her night!

We finished off the fireworks we had:

And then we all walked around the corner to our neighborhood pool. Usually our neighborhood throws a big July 4th party at our amenity center & we can all see the fireworks from there. However, this year they couldn't have the party but we figured we would walk over anyway to see the fireworks. Our city cancelled all of our events over the weekend except the fireworks - they went off promptly at 9:30. And honestly I was shocked when we turned the corner - it was one of the biggest crowds I have ever seen! Not in a bad way, but I think no one is travelling these days & everyone is stuck at home so literally everyone came outside to watch the fireworks:

It ended up being the perfect evening with a full moon! We had the best view of the fireworks, away from everyone & the girls got to be with some of their close friends:

It was an awesome weekend & I will always remember the summer of fireworks & a full moon was the same summer we were quarantined at home:

Hopefully next summer we will be back to normal & maybe we can celebrate on a beach somewhere!
