Halfway through the trip, we decided to skip a sun day. We had spent 3 1/2 full days in the sun & we needed a break. So the girls & I had fun around the hotel property. We shopped all of the stores & finished playing their game. This is the game Sadie remembered from last time & was excited to do it again:
When we checked in, they gave them a passport & it had 20 different flags from different countries on it. They have over 100 countries represented on their hotel staff & all of their name tags have their flag on it so the girls carried their passports around every day & anytime we found someone from a certain country that we needed, we would get their signature. Some were really easy. Surprisingly their are a lot of Kenyans & Jamaicans in Grand Cayman. But Sri Lanka? France? Argentina? Not so much. We had a hard time but on Sunday we finally finished the game, turned in their passports & they got sting rays for their prize:
We took their sting rays to the kids club & spent some time playing there before we met Bryan on the golf course. We met him on the front 9 & they gave them putters so they got to practice putting with him:
It was empty out there so I might have let Sadie practice driving:
The girls had a lot of fun, but it was hot out there & we wanted Bryan to enjoy the back 9 by himself so the girls & I headed to lunch:
Another reason we had a rest day is because we had to get ready early that afternoon. We hired a photographer to take family photos of us on the beach. We haven't gotten them back yet but I think she did a great job! Here is a sneak peak behind the scenes:
The weather was perfect, the girls did great & from what I saw our outfits looked great. Family pictures are always so stressful but I can't wait to see them! We did ask for someone to take a picture of us at dinner but honestly, we had already been outside taking pictures for 2 hours & I think all of us were hungry, sweaty & over it:
We went to this great little restaurant in Georgetown called Casanova. It is an old house right on the water with 3 decks overlooking the ocean. We had a perfect view of sunset!
I mean seriously, look how shiny my face is from being outside so long!
The girls loved where we ate because they had these huge tarpon fish swim right up to us & we could watch them & feed them while we were eating. Just like the hotel:
The next morning we were up bright & early to catch a boat from our hotel:
We did this exact same tour 3 years ago last time we were there & we loved it so much we decided to do it again now that the girls are older. First stop, Sting Ray City:
We actually came here back in January when we did the Disney Cruise, but it was cloudy, rainy & crowded so we didn't really enjoy it. But this day was perfect. I mean look at that picture - we couldn't have had better weather! Since we went on a small tour, there was only 20 of us on our boat so it wasn't nearly as crowded as last time. Sadie was much braver & had no problems holding the sting ray & even kissing it:
Sophie on the other hand would not let go of Bryan! I believe she kissed it & just barely touched it, but that was it:
Bryan & I took turns holding one also & then we finally got a family picture:
After doing this 3 times, I am still in awe that we are literally in the middle of the ocean, walking on a sandbar swimming & holding wild sting rays. While Sadie & I were walking/swimming back to our boat, we were surrounded. Literally, I looked down & at one point there were 3 or 4 circling me:
We sailed some more & then we made our 2nd stop at Rum Point to go snorkeling on the reef. Sophie does not like to snorkel so I stayed on the boat with her:
while these 2 ventured off:
Apparently it was good snorkeling & they saw some really good fish. I believe it because we fed fish off the side of the boat & look at how pretty they were:
Sophie said they looked liked bumble bees!
Finally I convinced Sophie to jump off the side of the boat with me & as we were, Bryan & Sadie swam over. Do you see them in the background?!
Sadie wanted to jump too:
Our last stop was at Starfish Point. This was Sophie's favorite because we pulled the boat up in shallow water where she could walk around. There were starfish everywhere & we had fun picking them up & holding them:
We were trying to take selfies & pictures of our family & starfish together:
Someone finally saw up & offered to take a picture for us. Much better:
This was probably my favorite day. I love sailing & I love being out on the water. Like I said, the weather was perfect & the water was absolutely beautiful. And I'm glad we went in the morning because then we had the afternoon to relax when we got back to the hotel. The girls wanted to spend the afternoon at the splash pad:
If you can't tell from the picture above, this is Sophie's favorite place to be. This is one of the reasons I wanted to come back here one last time before the girls got to old to enjoy it. Sophie could have came here every single day but Sadie kind of got bored:
Evenutally we headed back to the big pool by the beach & the girls hit up the afternoon snack hut again:
Cotton candy anyone?!
The girls played beauty shop & had fun fixing each other's hair in the pool:
Then Bryan jumped in & the girls had a blast being thrown around:
Actually I should clarify, Sophie had a blast being thrown around because she doesn't weigh much. Sadie on the other hand is getting too big & harder to throw:
Another perfect day at the beach!
