After 6 years in office, Bryan decided to resign from his position as a trustee for Frisco ISD:
The terms were 3 years & he had already served 2 terms & was up for re-election in May. I know this was a really hard decision for him but after much thought & prayer over the past several months, he knew it was time. When he started Sadie was just a baby & Sophie wasn't even born! Fast forward to today & we have a 5 & 7 year old who are busy. He loves helping, volunteering & coaching & his resignation definitely allows more freedom to be around for them. Plus, 6 years ago, he did not own his own company so even though he has always worked & traveled a lot, his new passion is his commitment to his job. This past Monday before their regular, monthly board meeting, they threw him a reception & dinner at the FISD Administration building. They had a live jazz band, who was great:
They had hors d'oeuvre, drinks & dessert while everyone mingled. He had a good turnout from current school board members, city council members, the mayor, FISD administration employees & several principals from other school:
I know it was encouraging to Bryan to have so many people stop by to wish him farewell & thanks for his time he has committed to the district. But it was also a blessing to me to meet so many people I have heard about along the way.
Eventually they awarded him & let him make a speech as well:
I didn't get pictures of him making his speech because I was standing up there with him, but poor guy had a hard time. I'm sure he doesn't want me admitting this on here but her got very emotional trying to make his farewell speech. And the girls did great. Thank goodness they had music & appetizers so that helped entertain them, but they were really surprised at the end when they gave us flowers:
They were so sweet & gave me a bouquet of colorful roses & both of the girls a small bouquet with a single pink rose. This made their night!
After the reception, we got invited to dinner with the current trustees & administration:
Before we left, we got to sneak into the board room so Bryan could reminisce. They all have assigned seats with their name plaques so this is where he has sat for the past 6 years once a month at every single meeting:
He even showed the girls how to turn on the microphone when you want to say something:
They might have had a little too much fun with that! On our way out, we passed by this wall with pictures of all of the past school board trustees:
I have a feeling his picture will be hanging up there with the other legacies of leadership soon!
Thank you Bryan for volunteering your time to help make our schools better for our children. I know personally how much time you have committed, how many nights out with the guys you have skipped, or golf games that you didn't make. I am so proud of the example you have shown our children & I look forward to the next chapter in your life. Although, I have a feeling you will still be around - there are plenty of committees & volunteering opportunities in other areas :) But selfishly, we are looking forward to seeing you more at home with these 2 girls:
