Grand Cayman 2019

Our next stop was in one of our favorite places: Grand Cayman. We had been most excited for this stop but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. It was partly cloudy & sunny when we docked but got worse as the day went on :( We all knew right away what excursion we wanted to do here - stingray city! Of course we have already done this with the girls but they were much younger.

We had a 45 minute boat ride out to the sandbar & on the way, the weather was great:

Of course we don't have a water proof camera, but luckily they had someone from the tour taking pictures so we got 1 family picture of us with a sting ray:

Sadie got bored easily just swimming around because she wanted to snorkel & Sophie just wanted to get back on the boat:

So these 2 spent the rest of the time in the water snorkeling while Sophie played on the boat & I took pictures of everyone. It was a little crazy on the sandbar because there were so many boats & tourists:

but luckily I was able to keep my eye on our group most of the time:

They both had fun swimming around & chasing the sting rays. Sadie liked it more when they stayed low but she got a little scared when they came up to the top of the water by her:

Eventually she talked some of her friends into snorkeling with her:

It kept getting cloudier while we were out there & eventually it started lightly raining while we rode the boat back to shore but we still enjoyed the ride:

We really wanted to spend our afternoon at the beach so we had planned on going to a resort to have lunch & let the kids play in the ocean. Of course the weather did not want to cooperate. When we got there, it was pretty cloudy & we had about 30 minutes to play before the rain came:

And we enjoyed real fruity drinks that were much better than the ones on the ship:

We let the kids swim & play in the sand while we grabbed tables at the restaurant outside for lunch:

Of course as we were eating, it started pouring. And I am not exaggerating. It stormed all afternoon & never stopped. Luckily it was covered where we were sitting, but it was so windy we were all cool & still getting wet:

so they brought us towels to use as blankets:

Since we were stuck, we decided to play games. The kids had been playing heads up all week so we thought it would be fun for the adults to play & the kids thought it was hilarious watching us:

We ended up having so much fun! We spent a few hours sitting at the restaurant in the rain outside drinking, eating & visiting. Let's just say we made a lot of friends & had others wanting to play games with us! Everyone except for Sophie, she fell asleep again:

Eventually we knew it was time to head back to the boat, even in the rain. They kept telling us that would be there until 5:45 & by the time we got to the boat dock it was 5:30. We thought they were joking but they said thank goodness y 'all made it - you are the only ones not on the ship & we were about to leave. What the heck?!

Apparently since the weather was so bad, most people went back & they had been honking the horn trying to warn everyone. Meanwhile we were 10 minutes away having fun at a resort! They literally loaded everything from the port & by the time we got back on the boat we were already sailing again:

Thank goodness they didn't leave us behind! It wasn't quite the day we expected because Grand Cayman is beautiful & we were really excited to spend the day there, but all of us have already been there & we ended up having a great time, even in the rain:
