Well, we lucked out. It has been a hot & dry summer until late last week & then we had a cool front blow through with a lot of rain. It rained for days straight which was much needed but it was kind of a bummer since it was the end of summer. Thank goodness the sun came back out yesterday & it ended up being a beautiful day. We decided to make the most of our last day of summer by heading to the Frisco Athletic Center Outdoor Water Park:
This is one of those places we have never been to but the girls ask to go every single time we drive by. Literally. We have been to the indoor water park but they always see the big slides outside. The girls got free day passes here as part of their reading challenge from the library so they were excited to mark another item off of our bucket list & use their reward. Of course we invited friends so that always makes it even more fun:
We hit up the pool, did several laps around the lazy river & rode all of the slides. Sophie mostly stayed in the children's area & rode the small slides:
While these 2 hit up the same big slide over & over:
We stayed for a couple of hours & then figured we better head home since we had school the next day. I was secretly hoping that they would be exhausted & it would help them go to bed early since Sadie had school the next day :) But we were hot & thirsty so Lena & I had 1 more surprise for them:
We love snow cones but we always go to the same place so one of the other items on our list was visiting the Snow Cone Lady. She has been around for years, long before we lived here & everyone loves her but for some reason we had never been. Now I know why everyone likes to go - you get bigger snow cones for half the price!
We couldn't have asked for a better day to end summer. The weather was perfect, we spent the day with friends & we marked 2 more items off of our summer bucket list. As much as we loved summer, I am ready to be back on a schedule & ready for a routine. Cheers to the last day of summer & the first day of school!
