Surfside Beach, Part 2

After a busy start at Schlitterbahn, we spent the rest of the time lounging around the house & at the beach. As I mentioned, we had a private walkway from our house to the beach, which wasn't far but we let the kids bring their scooters so they could ride back & forth. My mom also had the brilliant idea of bringing our wagon so we could help haul all of our stuff down there:

As soon as we got there, we set up our campground for the day, took a few pictures & then the kids were ready to play:

We brought boogies boards & Sadie had a blast riding the waves with Kason. Sophie was more content just splashing in the water & playing in the sand:

The guys went fishing & caught a couple of bait fish:

My mom surprised the kids with all sorts of goodies while we were there - jump ropes, games, hula hoops, kites, etc. It was the best wind for flying kites:

It was really convenient to have a picnic lunch since we were close to the house & we had a nice little shady spot set up:

Mimi snuck inside that afternoon & surprised the kids with home made ice cream:

Natalie & I surprised my mom & tried to decorate for her birthday so we could celebrate that night:

All she wanted for her birthday was some extra time with her family & a picture with all her grandchildren:

She also requested a special meal for her birthday since we were at the beach - home made fried shrimp! We felt bad she cooked her own birthday meal, but it was delicious!

After dinner, she opened presents, with the help of her grandchildren, of course!

My favorite part of the day is when we headed back to the beach for a bonfire & s'mores:

It was the perfect way to end the day!

The next morning, we took the kids for a nature walk on the beach & found all sorts of goodies. Besides sea shells, there were a lot of jelly fish washed up on shore. The current must have turned & washed them all in because they weren't there the day before. I saw a snake on my morning run :( And some of our beach neighbors caught a shark when they fished:

The girls left their mark in the sand:

before we headed home later that afternoon. My parents & my sister's family were staying a few more days but we had to get home. I hate that we didn't get to stay any longer, but we had a great, long weekend. Bryan took a bunch of cat naps & had time to read a book:

while I visited most of the time with my mom & my sister. That's our favorite past time - chit chat!

One other note from our trip, we spent a lot of time talking about Sadie's tooth. She lost one of her top teeth a few weeks ago & the other was barely hanging on, & we tried pulling it all weekend but either she chickened out or we couldn't get it:

We had such a good weekend that the girls both crashed on our drive home:

Thank you mom & dad for such a fun trip! The beach house was perfect & we had such a great time spending the weekend with all of you. You spoil all of us & I hope you know how much we appreciate it. Happy birthday Mimi!
