Surfside Beach, Part 1

My mom had a milestone birthday last week but instead of having a party, she decided she just wanted to get away & spend time with her family. So, she rented a beach house in Freeport/Surfside Beach, which is down by Galveston. The girls were so excited when it was finally time to leave:

I mean so excited Sophie fell asleep & Sadie was distracted with her iPad! The house was right on the beach at the end of the street with a private walkway over the sand dune straight to the beach - it was perfect:

Most of my memories of Galveston include seaweed so I had prepared the girls for the worst but we were pleasantly surprised! The water was still green & brown but the beach was so clean - no debris & no seaweed:

And my favorite part about our house was the huge porch on the back, facing the water. We spent most of our time outside & I loved hearing the waves:

The house had an open floor plan with a loft upstairs which was perfect for the kids:

Obviously I took pictures before everyone unloaded & moved in for the week! That first day we settled in, went to the store & waited for everyone to get there but we were all up early the next morning & ready for our first adventure:

My mom really wanted to take the kids to Schlitterbahn since none of them had been there before & my girls unanimously told me it was there favorite part of the trip!

We tried out every slide in the park & hit up the lazy river & the rapid river multiple times. Somehow we dragged the kids away from the water long enough to have a picnic lunch & a quick break from the sun:

We liked the rapid river so much, we decided to ride it one last time before we had to leave. Of course I chose to sit out the last round so I could try to get action shots of everyone in the rapids:

When we got home, Mimi surprised the kids with home made snow cones:

while the rest of us relaxed & got ready for dinner:

Then the guys grilled our dinner:

and then we ended the night with a dance party:

I hope no one from the other houses were spying on us because they would have definitely been entertained! It was a late night but we all had fun eating, visiting & dancing the night away!

Next up, our time at the beach!
