Since we had perfect weather last weekend after relay, we officially opened the pool in our back yard! We have heated the hot tub & swam a few times with the girls, but this was our first official swim of the season in the big pool. We did heat it up the night before because the water was still a little cool from the chilly nights, but it felt awesome in the sunshine on Saturday! The big kids jumped right in & couldn't get enough of the grotto & the slide:
They all took turns fighting over our one nice float:
I seriously think we need to invest in another one this summer!
Somehow Sophie found this little life jacket & she thought it was funny to wear it but then she got scared in the water when she had it on because neither of my girls have ever really worn anything that kept them afloat & I think it confused her:
Last summer Sophie would hardly get in the pool. She mostly played at the water table & the swing set but this time she loved it! Don't get me wrong, she still got out & wandered around, but she also did a lot of swimming! She even went off the slide several times too. In fact, she would slide off then turn around & swim back to the side & then she would monkey walk to the stairs. I was so proud of her! I guess our investment in swimming lessons finally paid off :)
It was an incredibly lazy day & the perfect weather for being outside:
My mom even spoiled us & catered fajitas so we wouldn't have to mess with cooking or cleaning up. It was the perfect day after a long night & we so enjoyed spending time with family, especially our crazy cousins:
