Summer officially started for our family last Tuesday, so we have enjoyed our first week already! MOPS ended earlier in May, swimming lessons ended yesterday & their last day of school was last Tuesday. I was in charge of their school party with a friend & the party was a frog theme - Fully Rely On God! At first I didn't know what we were going to do because I have 2 girls who aren't really into frogs! But thank goodness for the internet because we found lots of good ideas. Julianne took the lead on a craft/activity while I took care of the snack. Unfortunately, this came right after Relay & I had been swamped the past couple of weeks so I kind of cheated on the snacks:
I tried to buy a green plate to look like a green lilly pad & then I made blue jello to look like water with frog gummies on top. Luckily I found the frog gummies at a local candy store. I asked Sadie what she wanted to drink & she chose Capri Suns because those are her absolute favorite & then I cheated & had frog cookies made because I didn't have time to do any baking! The good news is that the kids didn't care - they ate it all!
Julianne did a much better job on the crafts that I would have done - she is much craftier than I am! She prepped the materials for the kids to make frogs with felt flies so after they made the frog, they got to play a game & pick up the flies. The kids loved it!
And this is what our parties look like:
10 crazy children with all of their parents trying to help out!
She also spent a lot of time making the cutest backdrop so we could use it like a photo booth. She had picture frames for the kids to make & then we printed their pictures from the backdrop for them to take home for summer:
I think all of the kids really had a good time & were excited for summer but I am sure they are going to miss each other this summer, especially their teacher Mrs. Carvalho:
Sadie will especially miss everyone but I am personally looking forward to spending some extra time with her at home this summer:
Sophie didn't have a formal party at school, but I tried to take a few pictures of her with her teachers when I picked her up:
They both came home with lots of summer goodies from their teachers. They had another great school year at Sonshine & I am always so blessed for the women that dedicate their time to helping teach our children! Thank you Mrs. Adell, Mrs. Moss & Mrs. Manns!
