Weekend Wrap Up

I feel like we officially kicked off a late spring/early summer weekend around our house & it was great! Friday, some friends invited us to a park & the weather was so nice we spent almost 4 hours there! We kept running into people we knew so it was hard to get the girls to leave. Thank goodness Maggie & I packed lunches so we could picnic while we were there:

On our way home we stopped at Home Depot to pick up batteries because they girls had a new game they had been wanting to try. They love Home Depot - could it be the shopping carts?!

After quiet time, we went back outside to play while we waited for Bryan to finish working. The girls got this game a while ago & we have never played it because it needed C batteries? I keep batteries in stock but C batteries aren't something we use very often. Or ever.

The game is Elefun & the elephant blows butterflies out of his trunk & you have nets to catch the butterflies. They LOVED it:

I don't know if you can tell, but Sadie's basket is full of colorful butterflies & that's a green one still flying on the top left hand side of the picture.

After dinner with daddy we went to an election party where the girls had fun running around & playing, but he had to make a quick exit while the candidates gave their speeches because the girls were too interruptive :( By the way, did you know early voting started today & election day is May 7? Bryan is still on the ballot even though he is unopposed!

Saturday we officially opened up the backyard! I cooked a big brunch & Bryan grilled out dinner & we ate outside all day. We never even left the house. I worked in the yard most of the day while the girls played & then they finally went swimming! Sadie kept jumping in the pool & saying it felt great (I'm not sure I agree with her because no one else got in!) but they heated the hot tub & swam for several hours. In fact, they stayed out there so long Sadie & Bryan got burned :( Don't think he is used to our summer routine yet because he forgot to put on sunscreen. I was so busy working that I didn't take any pictures, but it made me excited for summer!

We had such a fun day with the girls we decided to surprise them with one last thing:

Can you tell?! That's cousin Itt over there trying to eat her sno cone :) I have never had a problem with Sadie's hair being in her face but Sophie's is in her face constantly. We all ended our day with a cool treat from Bahama Bucks:

I love having one so close that we can ride our bikes there!

Ok, so we pretended that was the end of our day, but really, after we put the girls to bed, we snuck out for a date night. There was a big country music festival in town that went all day Saturday & Sunday:

We weren't planning on going but then we got offered free tickets at the last minute. We had already promised to spend the day with the girls so we did & then the babysitter came over to watch tv while they slept. We finally went up there about 8:30 & got to see half of the performance by Chris Young but the main event, Blake Shelton didn't even come on until 9:45:

I grew up listening to country music & now I listen to a little bit of everything, but not really country as often. Until today! I think I've had country on the mind so that's all I have had on in the car since then! I always forget how many songs I really know of a random artist (who is not necessarily my favorite) until I go & hear their concert. I would say I probably knew almost every word to 90% of his songs so I definitely had a good time:

Apparently all 25,000 other Frisco fans enjoyed it too! All though most of them were drunk & sunburned from being out there all day :( He put on a great show & I am glad that we had a chance to see him:

My only complaint happened during this moment:

He sang "Home" which is a remake of Michael Buble's original. It turned out to be a hit for him & obviously everyone there loved it because they all got out there cell phones & turned their flashlights on, kind of like they used to do with lighters. Anyway, it looked pretty, especially with the full moon, but he doesn't sing it nearly as good as Michael. Of course, I could be biased :)
