Last Sunday, Bryan & I celebrated 12 years of marriage. I know, 12 years! A few weeks ago, he found out that he had to host a meeting for work in Vegas on Monday so he asked if I wanted to come along since it was our anniversary weekend. He always wants me to tag along (which I appreciate!) but usually we've got too much going on with the girls, but since it was our anniversary & a quick trip, I changed my mind. At first I was like Vegas, again?! I know this was our 3rd trip to Vegas in the past 4 months but each trip has been different. New Year's it was cold so I stayed inside the hotels & shopped. Spring Break I was with the girls so we did everything geared for children. This time, I hardly left the resort & relaxed!
There was a big convention in town so some of the hotels were booked & Bryan looked at reserving a conference room for their meeting, but they were pretty expensive. Then he found a hospitality suite that had a conference room in it at the Aria. Let me tell you, it was awesome! We got to stay there but I had to leave on Monday while everyone else came for the meeting. Totally worth it. I couldn't help but take pictures because we will probably never stay in something like this again. When you walk in, there is a living room:
Of course there is a half bath & a dining place off of this room also. Then we had a private bedroom & bathroom:
And the most important part:
Since we had one of the suites, they also provided a limo to & from the airport:
The girls would have loved it :)
We got in around lunchtime so after we got settled in & grabbed lunch, Bryan set up the conference room & worked for a while why I headed straight to the pool:
That night we had dinner reservations & I made Bryan take a picture with me so the whole trip wouldn't only be documented by pictures of our room:
We had dinner at one of the restaurant's that a concierge had recommended back on New Year's. We walked over to Crystals & ate at Mastro's Ocean Club. It was good & probably not my favorite in Vegas, but their customer service was terrific. We had a table reserved in their tree house & they surprised me as soon as we opened our menu:
I couldn't help but smile because I have never seen anyone do that before! And they surprised us with a free dessert that was delicious:
On Monday we slept in & then we went & worked out at the gym together before we had to get ready for his meetings. I felt like his personal event planner because we had to go to Fed Ex & pick up his presentation booklets, we picked up drinks & snacks for his colleagues & then I set everything up & cleaned the room while he got ready. Before they came I snuck down to the pool & spent the entire day down there. I actually read 4 magazines & 2 books on this trip - that's how relaxed I was!
When their meetings were over, they had a work dinner so once they were gone, I got to go back up to our room. I thought about cleaning up for the night & then quickly realized that I just wanted to enjoy the quiet time & fabulous suite! So I took the longest bath (since they had a jetted tub) & watched tv (since there were 5 TV's in the suite, 1 in the bathroom) and 1 hour later I realized I should probably get out! Bryan finally texted me about 9:00 to ask if I wanted to come downstairs to meet them for drinks & gambling, but honestly, I was enjoying my time to myself:
Our room had a refrigerator so I brought back left over macaroni & cheese from dinner Sunday night & they had left over Chicago style popcorn from their work meeting, so I made both of those my dinner! Don't judge :)
The next morning, we slept in & then headed to the gym one last time before we had to head home. I know people think it's crazy that I like to work out on vacation, but they had an awesome gym & I always eat worse when we travel. And Bryan & I never get to go to the gym together so I enjoy spending time together doing something we both like. And, I might have done some more reading in the fire lounge while I waited for him to finish up:
If only I could relax like this after every morning workout!
Finally, we headed to Mozen Bistro at the Mandarin Hotel next door for brunch. We discovered this little gem when we came on our new year's trip & it is one of our favorites:
Guilty pleasure #2 - I always eat kid cereal when we are on vacation since I don't buy it at home! And yes, that is their famous cronut we have been raving about for the past couple of months :)
It was a quick trip to Vegas since we were barely there 48 hours & Bryan spent half the time working, but it was a great weekend. I am always so appreciative when I have the chance to tag along on one of his business trips because I like spending the extra time with him & away from the girls, especially since it was our anniversary. Thanks for letting me tag along Bryan - I love you & are so grateful for our 12 years of marriage!
