Texas Big Star

Frisco is definitely a sports city & there are always races going on around town, but they are usually 5k with the occasional 10k. Usually Bryan & I have to run with the girls or take turns while one of us stays with the girls, but this past weekend my mom was here so we took advantage of the babysitting & got to run together!

Texas Big Star was the first endurance race in Frisco - they offered a half marathon & a 5k. Bryan would have ran the half marathon since he just did one, but honestly, we had too much going on that day! We raced at 7:45, went straight to Sadie's soccer game at 9:00 followed by a birthday party at 10:00. The race was definitely successful - they had 1,700 runners with 1,000 of those running the half marathon. Not bad for their first race!

Here we are before the race at the starting line:

and here we are afterwards:

I realize I look a little rough! I had just crossed the finish line & Bryan was waiting for me. He runs a lot faster so he had already caught his breath! We both ran our personal best since we've had children. Bryan got 1st in his division! And I got 4th. This was the first time I was placed in the older division, females, ages 36-40, but I got 4 out of 134 so I was happy :)

We had a few minutes to enjoy the after party before we had to race to the soccer game so we picked up some swag bags & lots of free food:

Yes, that is free Krispy Kreme & I did not feel guilty at all enjoying 2 of them while Bryan had a chiropractor stretch him:

Thanks Mom for watching the girls & getting them ready for soccer so we could enjoy a morning race together!
