For the past couple of months, Sadie is obsessed with play dates. Not the ones we usually do where we meet up with another mom & her kids, but the big girl play dates where we invite one of her friends over without her mom. She asks every single day if she can have a play date. I'm not gonna lie, it's kind of getting annoying :( First of all, she doesn't need a play companion at all times. Second, it's supposed to be something special so she appreciates it more when it happens. Finally, I am not ready to give up my quiet time/nap time anymore - I have work to get done! And when she has a friend over, I try not to work so I can keep an eye on them. Or help with them because Sadie usually has big plans for her friends.
I finally gave in & let her invite someone new over yesterday. We invited Grayson, who is a new friend from her soccer team. First they wanted to watch Frozen, but that only lasted 10 minutes before they were playing in the play room & then they had multiple princess outfit changes. And then they wanted to bake brownies:
This was actually my idea. I don't bake with Sadie as much as she would like, so I thought it would be a fun treat. They had fun putting on their aprons & helping out in the kitchen. Even more fun cleaning the bowl afterwards:
While the brownies baked, they played some more & then they got to go outside & enjoy their afternoon treat by the pool:
They looked so cute & dainty out there eating their afternoon snack!
I guess I should be fortunate that I have a social daughter who loves being around others. And for the most part she has done a good job of letting her guest choose what they do while they are visiting. Now we just have to work on her bossiness - she tends to be the leader amongst her friends & I'm not sure if that is a good or a bad thing?!
