Usually when we travel to the beach, we tend to spend more time at the pool. I love looking at the ocean, but the girls would rather swim in the pool than the ocean. As soon as we woke up our first morning there, they were ready to go:
They had their new sunglasses from Mimi & their beach bags.
Without a doubt, our favorite part of the trip was the water park. They had several pools in 1 area, 2 of which connected. There was a splash pad with a beach entry where Sophie spent most of her time:
To be honest, she didn't really like the water. It's just like swimming lessons, she really doesn't care to be there. She would splash around a little in the shallow end, but for the most part, she would just run around outside the water. Sadie on the other hand is like a fish out of water. She would stay at the pool every minute of the day if we let her. The only time she isn't in the water is when I put sunscreen on her & I make her wait while it dries:
This was the first trip we didn't make her take a nap so she got to spend even more time at the pool every afternoon with one of us while Sophie slept. We hit up the main pool where she floated:
They also had these monkey bars made out of rope that she really liked. She kept trying to climb up there by herself but she couldn't reach it out with out her dad's help:
And she loved the water slides! She went down more times than I can count. And she is so good in the water that she would slide down, swim to the side, climb out & then run up & do it again. I literally could sit on the side of the pool while she did it by herself because she is so comfortable in the water:
These are the small slides in the middle that she could do. She technically wasn't tall enough for the bigger slides, but they let her go a few times when I sweet talked the life guard :)
Sophie's favorite word of the week was no. Everything we asked her generated the same result, no. Sophie, do you want to swim? Sophie, do you want to go to the beach? Sophie, do you want to go down the slide? No, no no. It was so frustrating. We finally carried her up the slide & made her do it because she does it as swimming lessons:
You can't really tell from the pictures, but she hated it! Bryan recorded us & she was crying the whole time. As soon as we got out of the water, he asked her she wanted to do it again & she looked directly at the camera & said NO!
She did like the hot tub so she would run over there often & just sit on the side:
Honestly, she just wanted to eat. It always comes back to food & drinks with her! These girls were spoiled rotten because they had strawberry daiquiri & ice cream machines by the beach & the pool so they wanted to have something at all times. We called the strawberry daiquiris "smoothies" & I swear they drank more smoothies in one week than I have in my whole life!
I will admit, it was a favorite of mine also! And it's even better when you can have as many as you want for free :) In fact, every year I get the money shot - that one picture from vacation that is my favorite that usually is the background on my cell phone or is the one we put on our holiday card & this year it happens to be all 4 of us, in the water park with our smoothies:
That picture pretty much sums up our vacation!
