Bryan & I have participated in the Turkey Trot since Sadie was born but since we were going to Austin, we didn't know if we would get to do one this year. They have a big one in Austin, but my sister lives in a suburb & we didn't want to mess with the traffic & the crowd. Somehow, we found out about one in Cedar Park, just a few miles from their house so I literally signed us up the night before! We even talked our brother-n-law, Daniel, into running with us:
I was a little disappointed when I woke up the next morning to rain. We decided to brave it any way & headed to the stadium. This is us before the race:
And this is us afterwards:
Somehow the rain held off & we were able to finish with only sprinkles. It was very humid though & the course was a little hillier than I am used to, so I was 20 seconds behind my goal :( But I ran without stopping & still had a good time.
My dad showed up with the kids after our race was finished & they were so excited to be there:
We called & asked them to come since it wasn't raining because they had a 1K for the kids & we were going to run it with them. Unfortunately, as soon as they got there, it started pouring. We all ran & piled in my dad's car & the kids were so disappointed. Guess they will be ready for next year!
By the way, guess who had an awesome run:
This guy not only had a great time, but he also placed 4th in his division! Go Bryan!! I am so thankful that both of us are healthy enough to run & we enjoy doing it. It is a fun hobby for us both & I hope we are being positive examples for our children :)
