Ellie The Elf

We have had the Elf on the Shelf since Sadie was born but technically this was the first year we really entertained it. We have read Sadie the book for the past couple of years & she has even seen the movie, but we never really made a big deal out of it. In fact, our elf has been sitting out every single Christmas since she was born, but she hadn't moved:

She's just been sitting in the living room looking down on us :) I say she because ours has blue eyes & a cute little polka dot skirt. We do have 2 daughters in our house so it only makes sense that our elf is a girl too!

The night before December 1, Bryan & I read the book to Sadie & let her watch the movie & this time, she fully understood it. She even named our elf Ellie. I personally thought Ellie the Elf sounded kind of cute, but really that was the first name she thought of because her best friend from school is named Ellie :)

So this year, Ellie has flown all over the house every single night. I know, exhausting. We didn't make a big deal out of, like threaten to tell Santa on her if she was bad, we just pretended like it was a fun game & she flew around every night while we all slept. And she definitely didn't do anything crazy like I have seen or heard about. Mostly, she found somewhere new to hang out every day. There were the usual sightings like sitting on the Christmas tree, hiding in the garland or in one of our stockings:

One day we found her in the dining room:

or visiting with Santa:

One morning Sadie found her hanging out with the Christmas calendar:

Because that was our morning routine. Sadie would run down, check the calendar & then look for Ellie. One morning she was literally hanging around the breakfast nook waiting for us:

She even tried to start a snowball fight:

Most of the time we found her in the kitchen attempting to eat our Christmas cookies & candy:

We think she was trying to make hot chocolate one night:

And one morning Sadie found her inside the refrigerator trying to drink her milk:

Silly Ellie! That's what we heard every morning :)

I thought her last night here she was trying to take a bubble bath but Sadie was convinced she was eating all of our marshmallows:

I will confess that Ellie was a fun addition to our holiday season this month, but I won't miss her when she's gone :) Maybe we will be ready when she comes back next year!
