Last year Sadie did Soccer Shots, but it was mostly a training class for soccer that she participated in at her pre-school. This year, she was officially old enough to join FSA, which is the Frisco Soccer Association. Most of our friends & neighbors who have children older than us started their kids here because it is one of the first things they can do when they turn 3. Apparently every other child in Frisco signed up too because we were told there are over 8,000 kids registered! Isn't that crazy?! We signed up back in June & finally got an email from her coach last week. Her team is the Sweet Cleats & there are 8 girls who are all her age. 4 of the girls we already know, so that makes it even more fun :) You are allowed to write in a name of a friend you want to play with & I guess we all wrote each other down. Looks like it will be more of a social hour for mommy sitting on the side lines!
The girls had their first practice on Saturday morning & we got to meet their 2 coaches - Coach Jeremy & Coach Todd:
They both have daughters on the team. I applaud them for volunteering to coach a bunch of 3 year old girls but they did great! They had the field set up with several different stations & Sadie was ready:
She actually did pretty good, of course it helps that she has a little bit of soccer experience. And she loves to run. But it's always more fun when you have your friends to practice with:
I thought it was funny that most of us have younger children, so they were all running around as well. Sophie really wanted to join the big girls:
Registration included a soccer ball for each girl, socks, shorts & a jersey. After practice, we took her shopping to buy new cleats & shin guards. She didn't understand what the shin guards were for so we had to explain it, but she loved getting to pick out pink ones:
I'm not going to lie, I am a little disappointed that her soccer schedule may interfere with our UT Longhorn football schedule, but I knew that would happen as our children get older. But it is kind of exciting to be a soccer mom!
