Bryan I have been diligent about giving Sophie a utensil every night for dinner, but to be honest, I mostly give her forks & have dreaded giving her a spoon. Especially in the morning, because we eat a lot of apple sauce & yogurt. She tends to be my messy child so I have dreaded letting her feed herself. Most of the time we are in a hurry in the morning or I don't want her to get dirty, so I feed her because it is easier.
Mommy guilt had started to kick in, so I finally let Sophie feed herself breakfast. Most of the time she does, but today I gave her a spoon & a bowl of applesauce & let her go to town:
I thought I was being sneaky by scooting her all the way up to the table & placing a towel in her lap, but to my surprise, the towel was completely clean! Sophie fed herself & didn't spill at all. Her hands might have been a little dirty, but for the most part, she did amazing! Maybe it's her age, maybe it's watching her sister or letting her practice with a fork at dinner, but I still cannot believe how good she did. Guess I will have to allow more time in the morning so she can feed herself.
Notice anything else about the picture above? I think both of my girls are going to be left handed! Sadie has dominantly been left handed as long as we can remember. She never did anything with her other hand. Sophie has always used both while learning, but she is starting to use her left more dominantly as well. Guess they both got that from their father!
