As soon as we got home from vacation, our summer schedule picked right up where we left it. Sadie went to camp by herself one day while Sophie & I spent the day together. The next day we invited friends over for a pool party but for mid-July, it wasn't the best weather. The pool was only 80 degrees which is kind of cool for July, especially when it is cloudy & windy outside, so the kids spent more time playing on the swing set than in the water:
I finally gave in & heated the hot tub so we swam in there until it was time for lunch:
While they were eating it started pouring. Of course. Our first pool party back from vacation & it stormed, so they spent the rest of the morning playing inside.
The next day I took Sadie to the $1 summer movie at Cinemark:
It was Night at the Museum so I left Sophie at home with a babysitter. She does ok during animated movies but knew she wouldn't sit through that. I barely got Sadie to sit through it! I thought she would like it since we had been to that museum before, but she got scared & ended up sitting in my lap the entire time. She didn't like it when the animals came to life. She did enjoy the popcorn that I let her splurge on!
Afterwards, I took her for a special treat:
Both of our toes looked horrible from our trip. I don't know what it is, but somehow the sand & chlorine chip away all of your nail polish. I thought it would be a fun surprise for us to get manis & pedis since we didn't have Sophie:
Friday, we met some friends at the park & splash pad. Afterwards, they invited us to lunch at McDonald's:
Sadie was ecstatic! Can you tell that I never take her to fast food?! Alana has been in Sadie's class for the past 2 years but for some reason this trip, she was obsessed with her brother, Gavin:
He is Sophie's age & will start Sonshine School in the fall so I imagine they will be in class together just like the girls:
In case you are wondering whose feet those are, that would be Sadie. She thought she could do a handstand & flip on the car the kids were sitting in. And that is why she is starting gymnastics in the fall :)
We did have one surprise last week:
Sadie got a new scooter! She has one with 2 wheels in the front that we can pass down to Sophie so now they will both have a scooter to ride around. This one is technically for older kids, but she manages it pretty well. We had something to return plus I had a coupon, so this actually was a free item which was a fun surprise for mom & dad, too!
As much fun as it was on vacation, I will admit, it has been fun being back at home & getting back on schedule.
