Last weekend we had awesome weather so we spent the entire weekend outdoors getting ready for summer. My parents drove in on Friday because they wanted to see Sadie play basketball. When they got here, Bryan threw burgers on the grill & we got to enjoy our outdoor patio:
I absolutely love our new high chair & picnic table - it makes it so much easier to eat outside! After dinner, Sadie jumped in the hot tub with Bryan & Doc:
We actually heated the pool for the entire weekend but since they didn't stay in long that night, they just stayed in the spa. The water temperature in the pool was around 70 but we heated it to the upper 80's & it felt perfect. The temperature still drops at night so the water hasn't had a chance to get warm & stay warm yet.
After Sadie's game, we went shopping at the nursery & bought new soil & plants for our new pots in the backyard. Doc pulled double duty & pushed Sophie around while pulling the trailer of plants behind him:
I'm sure my parents didn't realize I was going to put them to work when they got here! But Bryan & I are still learning how to garden & they are experts, so they helped me get everything planted while Bryan & Sadie swam in the pool:
But it wasn't all work & no play, I caught my dad relaxing while Mom & I had to run an errand:
Bryan & I love hibiscus & we tried to get a few tropical plants that added some splashes of color to our back yard:
Hopefully they will look better when they flourish & start blooming & filling out more. I was also excited to finish decorating outside. I know some people think I am crazy, but I feel like our patio is now an extension of our living room, so I like it to feel cozy, but I am definitely decorating everything outside different than inside. I love the tropical look. My parents got me this door mat for my birthday, but I had it framed because it was too cute to step on:
They also bought these stepping stones for our family that are adorable - the girls love them!
I also bought an outside clock & thermometer set with my birthday money:
I have a feeling it will be easy to loose track of time while we are outside :)
Finally, I bought some towel hooks so the girls will always have somewhere to hang their towel:
You know that would drive me crazy if we had towels lying around every where.
After all that hard work, we finally jumped in the pool & enjoyed it. It was really the first time I have swam in it since we have had it! I didn't take many pictures of us swimming but I did catch Sadie sneaking up the grotto with Bryan:
I didn't know if she would really jump but the girl did not hesitate:
Love that picture! All it took was one jump & she was hooked. Now she is climbing up the grotto, jumping off the hot tub, swimming across the pool by herself, she is brave in the water! She swam all weekend long & even had blisters on the top & bottom of her feet from dragging them around. Nothing will stop this girl when she is in the water!
After my parents left Sunday night, we finally ended our weekend with a cool treat:
Yes, these girls love sno cones & yes, they are in pajamas! We just gave them baths after swimming & I didn't really care at that point. It was such a fun weekend & I am so glad we finally have everything done so we can enjoy our summer outside!
