Shrine Circus

I was looking through my phone & realized that I never posted about our trip to the circus this year! We went the night before we left for New York, so I guess it got forgotten about while we were traveling. We took Sadie last year & she loved it, so we thought we would take her again, but we left Sophie with a babysitter. Last year we made the mistake of getting there around the time it started, but we didn't realize that the doors actually opened a full hour earlier for the kids to go down to the floor & see the animals. This year we were prepared. We took Sadie to dinner at a local pizza restaurant where they gave her pizza dough to play with while we waited:

Then we promptly got to the arena right at 6:30. Sadie was not shy at all & asked if she could ride the animals so we started small:

Bryan walked with her while I took pictures & she was so proud getting to ride the pony by herself:

But she was quickly over the ponies & ready for bigger & better things:

Can you tell which animal she is sitting on this time?

If you guessed an elephant, you are correct! We asked if she wanted us to ride with her, but she did not. She made it very clear that she was a big girl & wanted to ride it all by herself :) Bryan & I were so proud of her!

The show started at 7:30 so we headed to our seats & Bryan treated us to some circus treats, which may or may not have included popcorn & funnel cake. You know Sadie though - there was an emcee who was wearing a bright pink suit & was singing & dancing while they were putting the animals away & getting ready for the circus. He asked if anyone wanted to dance & before I knew it, Sadie was running down to the floor. She dropped her popcorn & she was barefoot but she was one of the first ones down there:

We had some friends that were also there & she came down to dance also & then they got to high five him:

The show finally started & they broke for intermission at 9:30. Can you believe it - 2 hours later & it was only intermission?! We told Sadie that it was really end of the show & snuck out of there. To be honest, we saw the show last year & it was the exact same thing & kind of boring. But also, we knew we had a busy day traveling to NY & she didn't know the difference. Maybe next year Sophie will be old enough to join us!
