Our spring break was last week but it was kind of boring around the Dodson house. My sister & mom wanted us to get together with the kids, but their spring break was different than ours. Technically, the first weekend of spring break was fun because we were in Mexico & the girls were with the grandparents. Unfortunately, Bryan took a 6:00 am flight the next morning & was gone most of the week so it was just the girls & me. I spent the first day unpacking, doing laundry & catching up from being gone. And I was having so much fun & still in my beach state of mind, that I figured I would spring clean my closet. Even though it was still cool & rainy outside, it felt good to put most of my winter shoes up & get my sandals & flip flops down.
Then I decided to do the girls rooms. I know several people told me that I wouldn't be able to stay organized after I had 2 children, but let me tell you, that did not slow me down! I started in Sophie's room:
I packed up most of her winter clothes to sale & got out her new wardrobe for the new season. I say it every time, but it is ridiculous how much she has - between Sadie & Zoe, that girl is spoiled!
Once her container was empty, I went to Sadie's closet & did the same thing. I packed up all of her winter clothes & put them in to Sophie's empty container. I will say that for the first time, I actually held some stuff out for next year. Most of her skinny jeans, tights, etc. I know will be too little next year, but I am hoping some of her dresses & coats will still fit. Fingers crossed for next year!
Then I got to dig through her closet & find everything that I had bought & stashed away all winter:
I did pretty good this year & only needed a few things. She had a lot of nice things, so I picked up a few more casual t-shirts & shorts for her to wear as play clothes once it gets hot. Other than that, I only had to get her shoes. I love buying shoes this time of year because sandals & flip flops are so much cheaper than boots & tennis shoes! I had so much fun cleaning out their closets that I went shopping right away so we are officially finished. Now we just have to wait for the weather to get warm & stay warm.
Besides spring cleaning our closets, I decorated the house for Easter:
My mom cleaned out her decorations & gave us some new stuff, so Sadie was so excited to help me decorate. It feels so good to have touches of spring all through our house, even though spring hasn't officially arrived outside.
The girls were most excited about their Easter baskets & bunny ears:
Sadie has literally been wearing the ears & hopping all over the house & Sophie loves playing with the colorful easter eggs!
I know, some of you have stopped reading because no one cares, but spring is my favorite time of year & I really enjoy "spring cleaning"! I did take the girls out for a play date one day with friends, which I will post about tomorrow. When Bryan came back in town, he took them to the mall to spend time with him. That's his go-to play date with the girls. They eat Chick-Fil-A in the food court:
Sadie always trades her surprise for an ice cream:
And then they ride the carousel:
Such a fun dad! I love that they love spending time with him. And I love the quiet time around the house - in fact, that's when I got some of my "spring cleaning" done! What can I say, I love these 3!
