Sadie's birthday was Monday but Bryan was gone most of the day so we told her it was yesterday instead. It's nice that you can do that with kids this age because they aren't old enough to know the difference! We wanted to make the whole day special for her because she was so excited about turning 3.
Bryan was gone Monday evening, but I kicked off her birthday festivities with a special bath:
She got some Christmas bath toys in her advent calendar that day & I surprised her with glow sticks. Usually she bathes with Sophie, but Sadie had swimming lessons that day & Sophie didn't, so I made the bath special just for her:
Once she was all settled, I turned out the lights for a crazy bath time party:
She thought this was awesome & could have stayed in there all night! Once I finally got her out, I let her watch a Christmas movie & cuddle with a blanket while I got Sophie ready for bed:
She really loves Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer right now.
The next morning, we had breakfast waiting for her:
She loved her snow covered doughnuts! And yes, she has a bathing suit on again. That girl is obsessed with swimming. I think she woke up some time during the night & took off her pajamas & put her swim suit back on. Silly girl.
She got to wear her birthday shirt to school & we sent cake balls so she could celebrate at lunch with her friends. When she came home from school, we let her skip her afternoon nap & she got to play outside with her new toy:
I still cannot believe we gave her a car. But honestly, it's really a birthday present for both of the girls. Sophie is too little to drive it yet, but she can sit in there as Sadie drives her around:
Sophie's birthday is next week & she is getting a new car seat since she has outgrown her infant seat, but honestly, that's mostly a necessity so she would have gotten it anyway. I always gripe that December is expensive having both of the girls birthdays & Christmas, but I realized this year it's kind of nice getting to buy their gifts while everything is on sale during the holidays. They probably wouldn't have gotten this gift any other time of the year, but since I got $150 off, I could justify it :)
I invited some of our neighbors over so she had fun riding around with them also:
After dinner we surprised her with a princess castle cupcake that had pink sprinkles:
It amazes me every day how independent & smart she is. We didn't even have to tell her what to do - she just blew out her candles right away:
Then she proceeded to eat her cupcake like this:
Icing first. Oh my goodness.......
We didn't really have any other presents planned for her since we did a big gift, but she is Elsa crazy right now & we bought her a nightgown that I was going to give for Christmas, but I decided to let her have it for her birthday at the last minute:
She wouldn't smile for the picture because she was too busy showing it off :) She has pretty much lived in it since she got it. Cheers to being 3!
Happy Birthday, Sadie! We've done the fun bath, too. :) I love the car. That is awesome!
