Since my girls were born a week apart & it's the holidays, I decided to combine their birthdays & have one big party. I would probably be inviting the same families to each party anyway, plus it saved a little money. I am hoping to do this until they are old enough to ask me not to :) The catch was trying to find something that would work for both of them & friends their age. I was afraid the guest list would be too big to have it at our house like we did with Sadie. A few months ago we were at the mall with the girls & Sadie was dying to go on the carousel so we took Sophie also & she loved it. And I knew right them - Sadie & Sophie's Christmas Carousel! Perfect for 1 & 3 year olds. I quickly told my sister my idea & what colors I was thinking & she came back with this:
I was in love so I quickly used the invite as my inspiration for the rest of the party. We rented the carousel at the mall & used the food court to host the party. We had it early so it wasn't crowded yet. We set up a couple of tables with bright colors & Christmas décor:
I also had shirts made for my little cuties that went with the theme:
You can't really see Sophie's in this picture, but both of them have a carousel horse with their name & their age. That adorable tutu & tights are the same ones that Sadie wore at her first birthday party :)
When everyone got there, we headed toward the carousel. All of their friends got a sticker & that allowed them access to ride the carousel as many times as they wanted for free:
It was perfect because all of our family got to take turns riding with the girls:
When kids got bored on the carousel, I had a craft for them:
My mom made all of these little gingerbread houses out of milk cartons & they turned out so cute! Then we had bags of icing & bowls of candy so the kids could decorate. Most of them had never done this before, so that made it even more fun:
After we had breakfast snacks, we celebrated with their cake. I will admit that this was my biggest splurge. I did a big fancy cake for Sadie's 1st birthday so I knew I had to do the same for Sophie:
It turned out beautiful! I used the same cake lady for both & I would highly recommend her. She even made some small smash cakes for the girls:
Obviously Sophie can't blow out her candles so Sadie got to do it twice. And since we are still having digestive problems with Sophie, she actually didn't get to have her smash cake:
She just decided to chew on her tutu instead!
These girls were so blessed to celebrate with all of their family & friends. Even my sister Natalie & her family drove in for the weekend:
By the way, these two were inseparable the entire time:
Love these besties & can't wait for Sophie to grow up & join them :)
I can't finish writing this without thanking my sister, Natalie. Not only did she design the invitation & their birthday signs, but she also took all of the pictures. The pictures turned out really good & I was so excited when I saw them, but for some reason they loaded on here small & some of the pictures got cut off. Oh-well, I don't have time to re-load them now, but surely you can see what a magical day it was & how blessed my girls truly are:
Very cute! You did a great job! I would expect nothing less. ;)
