Practicing for Christmas

After the girl's birthday party, all of our family came back to our house to give them their presents & of course they had to open all of the gifts from their friends too. My sister & her family had to head home, so Sadie opened their gift first & she was ecstatic:

They got the girls their first helmets! I actually asked for them because they technically should be wearing them on their bikes, scooters & now the car. Sadie thinks that helmets are cool right now, so she usually wears mine or Bryan's, so at least she has one that actually fits. I don't know if you noticed, but that's Sophie in the corner of the picture trying to take her helmet off! Sadie loved hers so much that she decided to keep it on while she opened other gifts:

One of Sadie's friends gave her that Anna doll & she loves it so much that now she wants the Elsa doll. She had some birthday money so I thought I would pick one up with that but what I was thinking - that thing is sold out everywhere! We may have to wait until after Christmas to get that one.

I tried to ask for practical gifts, like new boots:

and the girls love their kitchen so much that I asked for some new play food so they got pizza, pancakes & a birthday cake. All items I knew Sadie liked:

Apparently Sophie thought it was real pizza :)

Speaking of Sophie, she got a couple of big gifts that I don't have pictures of. Sadie got a Pottery Barn pink check chair when she turned one so Sophie got the same chair but in purple check. And we have a baby stroller that Sadie pushes around but I knew the girls would start fighting over it as soon as Sophie started walking, so she got her own baby stroller. We thought we would wait & put it together when she is ready for it, otherwise Sadie would take control of it. Sadie also got a hand painted table & chairs for her first birthday so Sophie was treated to a hand painted rocking horse:

It turned out so cute & she loved riding it! They painted it to match her room. But honestly, this little explorer would have been happy with just the wrapping paper - she had a blast with the chaos:

Sadie was too excited to open my mom's gift because she wrapped it like Frozen & put an Elsa card on it:

I think she was mad because I was trying to take a picture & she was ready to open it :) But this present quickly set the theme for more to come because Sadie Kate is definitely a princess these days!

She got dresses for Anna, Elsa & Cinderella:

She already had Rapunzel & I believe she is getting more for Christmas. This was another idea I suggested. That's the bad thing about having your birthday the same time as Christmas because she has wanted dress up clothes for a while but we have been waiting since last December. She also got a few tiaras, high heels & a fairy wand:

I had been looking at ideas on how to store this stuff in magazines & online. Some people put them in trunks, but then I was told that they make a mess when they are digging through the trunk & trying to find what they want. And some people hang them up in little armoires, but I didn't want to buy an extra piece of furniture. But I didn't want them lying on the ground or getting stuffed in drawers or bins because I want them to stay nice. So I finally came up with this:

I hung hooks in the hallway between the girls' rooms so they could hang all of their princess dresses & tutus up. That way they are accessible to both of the girls because Sophie is going to want to dress up to when she is old enough. And hopefully this will help keep their bedrooms clean. Already Sadie is so excited & knows that she has to hang up her special dresses when she is finished wearing them. Oh the joys of having girls!

These two were so spoiled for their birthday, I don't know what else they could possible get for Christmas. But at least they got to practice opening gifts - I am pretty sure they are ready for Christmas morning:
