In November 2012, we took Sadie to her very first Longhorn football game in Austin & I thought it was only fair to do the same thing for Sophie. Of course we have to wait until the week of to pick the perfect Saturday - it always depends on what time the game is, who we are playing & what the weather looks like. Last Saturday all the elements came together so we made the drive. We left as soon as the parade was over & didn't get there until that afternoon, so Sadie was starving. It was a good excuse to have hot dogs & hamburgers at the game:
Poor Sophie - she really wanted some of Sadie's hot dog but Sadie wasn't willing to share :) She did have to share the pint of blue bell ice cream with her mom & dad though:
That's the fun part about going to a game, right - the food?! These 2 little cheerleaders did amazing:
I think Sophie did better than Sadie did at this age. Of course, she is used to going everywhere & tagging along with her sister. Sadie was really into the game. She got excited every time she saw Bevo & she was really into cheering & throwing the horns sign up every time we cheered:
I don't know how I lucked out, but we even got a good family picture at the game:
During the 4th quarter, we snuck over to where our old seats used to be & we got to visit with Walt & Cindy:
Cindy was so excited to meet Sophie but Sophie is going through a little bit of separation anxiety right now, so she wouldn't go to her. While we were taking pictures of them with the field, I thought it was a good excuse to take another family picture. Thank goodness the other one turned out, because this one did not:
It looks like a selfie, but some one actually took this one of us but they were standing really close. And Sadie had decided to take her pony tail & bow down by this point.
To our surprise, the longhorns actually won which was even more exciting! Bryan sings "The Eyes of Texas" to Sadie every night so she was so excited when they sang the school song at the end:
Sadie was in for one more treat as we were leaving the stadium:
We got to see the Longhorn band march by. We had such a great day & I am so glad our girls enjoy the football games as much as we do. Even though they only go to 1 game a year, I think it is a fun family tradition. Do you think Bryan has done a good job of brainwashing them yet?!
